  • Patent number: 10972831
Abstract: A speaker system broadly comprises a plurality of speaker assemblies each including a speaker housing, an input circuit, a low range speaker, and a higher-range speaker. The input circuit receives audio signals from a sound system or other controller and actively or passively sends the audio signals to the speakers. The low-range speaker is positioned in the upper section and the higher-range speaker is positioned in the lower section. Each speaker assembly is configured to be spaced from the other speaker assemblies within a listening area with each speaker assembly generating low frequency soundwaves and higher-frequency soundwaves. This reduces or eliminates out-of-phase crossover frequency wave cancellation effects within the listening area. The speaker housings are compact while allowing the low-range speaker and higher-range speaker to effectively produce and project desired soundwaves from the suspended speaker housing into the listening area.

The input circuit receives audio signals from a sound system or other controller and actively or passively sends the audio signals to the speakers. The low-range speaker is positioned in the upper section and the higher-range speaker is positioned in the lower section. Each speaker assembly is configured to be suspended from an elevated structure and spaced from the other speaker assemblies within a listening area with each speaker assembly generating low frequency soundwaves and higher-frequency soundwaves. This reduces or eliminates out-of-phase crossover frequency wave cancellation effects within the listening area. • Patent number: 9807496
Abstract: An in-wall or in-ceiling speaker enclosure includes a speaker back box having one or more apertures covered with an air-filtering member (e.g., open cell foam, baffling material, etc.) that may be utilized with speakers mounted on a large baffle (wall or ceiling) for reducing sound transmission to an adjacent room while significantly lowering the resonance of the speaker system and allowing the speakers to produce much greater bass energy into a desired room. Such a speaker back box includes a posterior surface, a plurality of sidewalls engaged with the posterior surface and extending anterior thereof wherein one of the sidewalls includes a first aperture. The speaker back box further includes an anterior opening oppositely disposed from the posterior surface. A flexible and resilient air-filtering member is positioned against the first aperture wherein the air-filtering member is intermediately located between the posterior surface and anterior opening.

  • Publication number: 20050147270
Abstract: A wall mounted speaker includes a baffle and a flange and fasteners for affixing the baffle to the flange. The fasteners include a plurality of spaced posts and latch members. Each latch engages a corresponding post. The lower portion of each post is affixed to the flange and the corresponding latch is removably and pivotally mounted to the upper portion of a post. Each latch includes a body portion, a lever and a cam and is movable between a first position where the body portion is engaged with the baffle and the cam is mounted to upper portion of a post for securing the baffle to the flange and a second position wherein the body portion is moved away from the baffle for releasing the baffle from the flange. The baffle includes a plurality of channels adjacent a respective post. The body portion of each latch is positioned in a respective channel when the latch member is in the first position. The cam includes a slot formed therein for mounting the latch around an upper portion of a post.
