  • Publication number: 20060271065
Abstract: A Foley catheter capture device including a tube with an interiorly extending flange. The catheter is captured by inflating the balloon portion of the Foley catheter inside the tube beyond the flange. A second Foley catheter capture device includes a pair of clamshell halves which are fitted together to form a tubular structure. One of the clamshell halves has a pin secured thereto extending inwardly where the pin is sized to be received by the laterally extending hole of the Foley catheter. A Councill catheter capture device is described which includes a wire having a nodule secured to the wire intermediate the ends thereof. The nodule is sized to be larger than the axial hole of the Councill catheter whereby the catheter is captured when an end of the wire is threaded through the axial hole with the nodule positioned inside the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20050143690
Abstract: A catheter capture device comprising a urethral sound and a sleeve that utilizes balloon inflation to capture the catheter. A catheter capture device comprising a urethral sound and a clamshell device. The clamshell device comprises two halves, one of which comprises two pins. One pin passes through the lateral holes in the tip of the catheter, and the other pin fits into a notch in the bottom half of the clamshell device. A catheter capture device comprising a urethral sound, a sleeve and a pin that passes through the lateral holes in the tip of the catheter. A catheter capture device comprising a urethral sound, a wire and a nodule, wherein the nodule captures the catheter by lodging in the tip of the catheter. The nodule could be a ball, hook, crimped wire or similar object. A method of capturing a catheter in an obese or non-obese patient.

  • Patent number: 5951067
Abstract: The knot tyer in accordance with the present invention includes, a hollow, elongated body member with a coil expansion spring mounted tubular piston therein and a release thereon. The hollow, elongated body member has a tubular piston slidably mounted and constrained within a cylindrical, hollow bore therethrough. The tubular piston has a first shoulder, a second shoulder, and a groove extending around the diameter of the tubular piston. The cylindrical, hollow bore in the rear end of the hollow, elongated body member accommodates in free longitudinally sliding manner a first shoulder on the tubular piston as well as a coil expansion spring encircling the tubular piston. The cylindrical, hollow bore in the front end of the hollow, elongated body member accommodates in free longitudinally sliding manner a second shoulder and a groove on the tubular piston.

  • Patent number: 5843113
Abstract: A new endocystotomy tool for suprapubic cystostomy has a rigid sound, said rigid sound having standard configuration such as a standard Van Buren urethral sound. Said rigid sound having a distal end, said distal end having a removable tip, said removable tip being rounded. A second embodiment of said new endocystotomy tool for suprapubic cystostomy has an extendable trocar slidably seated within the rigid sound. Said second embodiment of said new endocystotomy tool for suprapubic cystostomy having a proximate end thereof which is provided with an insufflation port and a spring loaded plunger, which spring loaded plunger activates said extendable trocar. Either a catheter, a sheath, or a cystoscope is passed inside the tip of the new endocystotomy tool and secured therein. Thus the catheter, sheath, or cystoscope easily slides through the abdominal wall and bladder, i.e., the diameter of the catheter, sheath, or the cystoscope being smaller than the diameter of the new endocystotomy tool.
