  • Patent number: 5169704
Abstract: Decorative sheet materials, particularly inlaid sheet vinyl floor coverings, are prepared with two or more printed layers provided that at least two of the printed layers are separated by an adhesive matrix layer which contains particles. The adhesive matrix layer and the printed layer or layers overlaying the adhesive matrix layer allow the underprinted layer to show through. The underprinted layer, therefore, is visible and the decorative sheet material has exceptional visual depth.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 27, 1990
Date of Patent: December 8, 1992
    Assignee: Tarkett Inc.
Inventors: Kenneth J. Faust, Rolf Basler
  • Patent number: 4175154
Abstract: Decorative sheet-type covering material and method for making same. The material has a substrate comprising a porous mat saturated and completely coated on both sides with foamed, cured PVC plastisol or organosol. The substrate is made by coating one side of a porous mat with foamable PVC plastisol or organosol and then heating and foaming the plastisol or organosol.

  • Patent number: 4175155
Abstract: Decorative sheet-type covering material and method for making same. The material has a substrate comprising a porous mat saturated and completely coated on both sides with foamed, flexible urethane. The substrate is made by coating one side of a porous mat with reactive urethane mixture which is then allowed to foam.

  • Patent number: 4022943
Abstract: Decorative sheet type covering material and process for making same. The material has a substrate, a foamed vinyl plastic layer over the substrate, a thin unfoamed smooth plastic layer over the foamed layer, a metal layer over the smooth layer and a wear layer over the metal layer.

  • Patent number: 3978258
Abstract: Embossed decorative sheet-type covering material such as sheet vinyl flooring is prepared by forming a foamed plastic layer over a pigmented layer on a substrate and then selectively crushing the foamed layer by mechanical embossing to produce selectively crushed transparent portions through which the pigmented layer is visible. Printing is normally included on the upper surface of the plastic layer before the latter is foamed and a conventional wear layer is also preferably used. In a preferred embodiment, a foamed undercoat layer is also used to reduce embossing requirements. Conventional materials are preferred, such as latex coated felt for the substrate, cured, foamed polyvinyl chloride organosol or plastisol for the foamed layers and cured, clear polyvinyl chloride organosol for the wear layer.
