Patent number: 8688539Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for providing complete electronic commerce (“E-Commerce”) transactions and solutions for a marketing company's products via the World Wide Web, including facilities for signing up new customers and recruiting, training and supporting new Independent Business Owners through an interactive online process. In another aspect, the present invention relates to the combination of a marketing business with a membership buying opportunity using both electronic commerce and face-to-face transactions. The present invention is also directed to a system and method for combining a marketing business with a membership buying opportunity, so that Independent Business Owners participating in the marketing plan can introduce customers to a membership buying opportunity and earn bonuses or commissions based on the purchases by those members, while Members in the buying opportunity can consume products or, at their option, qualify to become Independent Business Owners.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2012Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Amway Corp.Inventors: David L. Patent number: 8666832Abstract: A recurring order management system and method for a computer network is disclosed. The system receives a request to suggest a recurring order for one or more products or services. The system generates a profile which stores the suggested products or services, the suggested recurrence for those products or services and the suggested quantities to deliver upon each recurrence. The order then automatically recurs one or more times according to the specified recurrence.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2011Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: Amway Corp.Inventors: William S. Kerker, Thomas D. Paasche, Dave Bamborough, Randy S. Bancino, Robin Horder-Koop, Kenneth J. McDonald, John P. Parker, Claire E. Zevalkink

Publication number: 20110240676Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a defensive spray container. It includes a standard plastic material bottle which can be squeezed to expel a fluid contained in the bottle. The fluid is of such a nature to immediately disabled a person against whom the fluid is directed. The bottle has a screw cap on top of its neck. The screw cap supports an aspirator tube within the bottle. The aspirator tube is open at the top of the screw cap. The opening of the aspirator tube is sealed by way of a knock-off cap which has on its interior bottom a cone-shaped nipple which sealingly engages the opening in the aspirator tube. When a defensive need arises, the holder of the defensive spray container merely has to dislodge the knock-off cap to open the opening in said aspirator tube and a forceful squeeze of the bottle will forcefully eject the disabling fluid from the bottle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2010Publication date: October 6, 2011Inventor: Kenneth J. Publication number: 20030141330Abstract: The invention is a defensive retainer bottle combination. The bottle contains a defensive spray that immediately immobilizes a person when sprayed upon at the upper extremities of the person. The retainer is made of molded plastic and has upper and lower plates with upturned lips to retain a bottle placed there between. The retainer further has upper and lower springy retainer clips that assure a sure retention of the bottle within the retainer until an emergency requires the use of the bottle whereby a hard pull on the bottle by a hand will dislodge the bottle and make it ready for use. Once the bottle is filled with a defensive fluid. The bottle is inserted into the retainer with a top screw cap first and is then securely caught between the retention clips. The top of the screw cap has an aperture or hole therein into which a nipple penetrates to leak-proof retain the liquid in the bottle. The nipple is part of a rubber plug that is screwed into the top of the retainer.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventors: Kenneth J. McDonald, Robert E. Patent number: 5826796Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a multi-directional defensive spray container. It includes a regular plastic material bottle that can be squeezed such as a small shampoo bottle. Within the neck of the bottle there is located a rubber grommet having an evacuation tube attached thereto which extends into the bottle. At the opening of the neck of the bottle there is located a T-washer having an upper flat surface. A screw cap is screwed over the neck of the bottle and the top of the cap has a multiple of holes therein that will seal against the top of the T-washer when the cap is screwed down. An O-ring is placed over the neck of the bottle and will seal any liquid from escaping with the interior wall of the screw cap. Once a defensive liquid is placed within the bottle, a mere 1/4 turn of the screw cap is enough to expel liquid through the multiple of holes when the bottle is squeezed. The bottle can be used in any position to expel the liquid.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1997Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Inventor: Kenneth J. McDonald

Patent number: 5722206Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible storm resistant system for installation in openings of a dwelling. The system consists of hinged support braces that are installed in the lateral walls of an opening. The braces have horizontally extending threaded bolts placed inwardly from their ends. The braces also have retainer pins at each of their ends to be received in bores of the lateral walls. A panel having a periphery larger than the opening is received onto the bolts of the braces and rigid splints having holes corresponding to the location of the bolts are received over the panel and over the bolts to sandwich the panel between the supporting braces and the splints. There are nuts at the ends of the threaded bolts to apply appropriate pressure to the above noted sandwich.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Inventor: Kenneth J. McDonald
