  • Patent number: 6139411
Abstract: A disc sander having a scroll type vane pump embodied in a shroud enclosing the back side of a sanding disc. The inlet ports of the pump are coupled by a manifold to a location adjacent to the front face of the sanding disc at a location where the sanding dust and debris are generated. A tortious serpentine path is provided about the periphery of the pump housing which reduces pump noise and increases pump efficiency. The fins of the vane pump are provided on the back side of the sanding disc.

  • Patent number: 5794305
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having an articulation mechanism which includes hemispherically shaped rearward wheels and spaced forward wheels, and a base member which pivotably couples the front and rear wheels so that the rearward wheels may be pivoted in a plane substantially vertical to the surface to be vacuumed such that only one of the rearward wheels in disposed on the surface when the rearward axis is pivoted from a horizontal. As the vacuum is pushed forward or pulled backward, the vacuum cleaner turns toward the side in which the rearward wheel is disposed on the surface to be vacuumed.

  • Patent number: 5607196
Abstract: A hand-held gripping device allows a user to pick up small objects with relative ease. The gripping device has a resilient hollow body with two generally symmetrical side surfaces and a normally open mouth with two pointed corners. Each side surface has a lip portion extending to a curved edge at the mouth. The side surfaces are responsive to compressional forces exerted by a user's hand, whereby they curl towards each other and close the mouth. The closing of the mouth allows a small object to be captured.
