  • Patent number: 8868527
Abstract: A method and data structure for monitoring the progression of a configuration transaction through a communications network is provided. The method includes creating an audit trail associated with the switch-transaction progression, iteratively updating the audit trail incident to an occurrence of a designated transaction-processing substep without overwriting previously stored data, and processing the audit trail so that it is available for access via a user interface. Historical data tracking the configuration transaction's process is preserved rather than overwritten.

  • Patent number: 7688960
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for use on a computer for the automated generation of commands or other data to populate tables of a database. The automated generation process of the present invention entails separating business logic from device specific logic, defining the organization of incoming data, identifying and setting default data parameters, defining the format for the output data, and implementing the command generating object oriented classes in program source code, to generate device specific commands.

  • Patent number: 7644061
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and medium are provided for assigning indexes to a set of index-based resources. The method includes providing an index-based-resource manager (IBRM), requesting one or more indexes to be allocated to a desired number of resources, directing the request to the IBRM, identifying indexes available to be allocated, and allocating the identified indexes to be associated with the one or more resources. The present invention also contemplates transactional processing, enabling deallocation and querying of indexes.

  • Patent number: 7509642
Abstract: A system and method for automatically providing real-time transaction-progression status updates in a telecommunications-networking environment are provided. The transaction requires several substeps to complete. As these substeps are completed, statuses corresponding to the completions are sent to one or more user interface. An embodiment of the method includes receiving a transaction that involves performing multiple subprocesses, generating a set of status indicators as the various subprocesses complete, and dynamically broadcasting the indicators to multiple devices (or a single device).

  • Patent number: 7307985
Abstract: A method and system for identifying switch and trunk-group combinations and updating switches, or other components, required to implement a dial plan is provided. The method includes receiving a source network-element identifier and a destination network-element identifier. A range of NPA-NXX codes are received and all available communications pathways between the first network element and the second network element upon which data bound for the one or more NPA-NXX codes can be routed are automatically identified. Profile information associated with the destination network element is retrieved, and, without user intervention, a routing update command is automatically generated that configures the transmitting network element to route data bound for the NPA-NXX codes across the identified communications pathways.

  • Patent number: 7184439
Abstract: A method, system and article for optimizing the processing of switch transactions and updating multiple switches of a communications network based on a single transaction is provided. When a switch is backlogged with transactions beyond a threshold quantity, those transactions heading to the backlogged switch are grouped together, placed in a file and sent to the switch as a single transaction. Some of the batched individual transactions may be dependent upon other switches as well. The present invention accommodates for multiple dependencies and responds with a success notification only when all portions of the original transaction are complete. In another aspect of the invention, where multiple switches require updating, such updating can be accomplished with only a single transaction. Switch identification information is included with the transaction permitting multiple switches to be updated from the single transaction.

  • Patent number: 7170989
Abstract: A method and system for efficiently and accurately processing dependent telecommunications-switch transactions is provided. A subset of tables is identified that will be affected by processing each transaction. The subset is referenced to determine which tables to query. A dependency manager associates an order identifier with each transaction and subcomponent thereof. The respective order identifiers are updated as transactions are processed. When the order identifier updates to a ‘ready’ status, the dependent transaction can be executed.
