  • Patent number: 8804028
Abstract: Multiple uncompressed digital images, each at a different exposure, may be captured automatically in response to an image capture request. The set of uncompressed digital images may be stored as a single data object and manipulated to produce a final digital image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 2004
Date of Patent: August 12, 2014
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Donald J. Stavely, Kenneth Jay Hall, Amy E. Battles, Sarah Jean Barrios, Robert E. Sobol
  • Patent number: 7259785
Abstract: A digital imaging device detects or tracks a user's direction of gaze. The detected direction of gaze may be used to set one or more functions in the digital imaging device, and the history of the user's direction of gaze may be stored with a captured digital image for later use by an automatic image post-processing apparatus.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 28, 2003
Date of Patent: August 21, 2007
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Donald J. Stavely, Kenneth Jay Hall, Amy E. Battles, Sarah Jean Barrios, Robert E. Sobol
  • Patent number: 7027094
Abstract: A modeless electronic imaging apparatus, such as a digital still camera, uses a touch-sensitive shutter button to automatically display “live” images from an image sensor whenever a user touches the shutter button. When the user is not touching the shutter button, the apparatus displays stored image data of the last stored image, or may display menu data according to actuation of system navigation buttons. The apparatus does not require the switching of modes between image capture mode and stored image display mode, but is always capable of image capture as well as stored image display.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 2001
Date of Patent: April 11, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Amy E Battles, Kenneth Jay Hall, David J Staudacher
  • Publication number: 20040212695
Abstract: A digital image processing apparatus automatically alters a digital image based on metadata stored with the digital image. The metadata may comprise one or more dwell locations on which a user's gaze lingered as the user was composing the digital image.
