  • Patent number: 10030645
Abstract: A bi-directional pump system that can be configured for a plurality of operating modes. The bi-directional pump system includes a plurality of bi-directional pumps each having their own valving system that are connected to a common high pressure manifold, a low pressure manifold and a suction manifold. Via the respective valve systems, each pump can be configured into: (1) a single-acting pumping mode; (2) a double-acting pumping mode; (3) an inactive free motion mode; and (4) an inactive rigid mode. One exemplary application of the bi-directional pump system is on an articulated wave energy conversion system that consists of three floating barges: a front barge, a center barge and a rear barge where the front barge and center barge are hingedly connected as are the center barge and the rear barge. A first set of the bi-directional pumps span the first hinge connection and the second set of bi-directional pumps span the second hinge connection.

  • Patent number: 8647315
Abstract: A medical canister connector is presented for connecting to a medical canister, which has a patient port and a reduced-pressure port. The medical canister connector includes a first connection member that is coupled to a patient-port-attachment member, which is for coupling to a patient port on a medical canister and has a patient-port opening with a first longitudinal axis. The medical canister connector also includes a second connection member coupled to a reduced-pressure-port-attachment member, which is for coupling to a reduced-pressure port on the medical canister and has a reduced-pressure-port opening with a second longitudinal axis. A spacing member or pressure transport member may be used to couple the first connection member to the second connection member. The spacing member or transport member flexes and twists during connection. The medical canister connector may also help organize one or more pressure-sensing conduits. Methods are also presented.

  • Patent number: 7088197
Abstract: A digital adaptive power supply interface has two feedback loops, each including a VCO, to automatically compensate for temperature and semiconductor process variations. A first loop compares the system input phase/frequency to a reference voltage that has been converted to a first digital frequency signal by a VCO in the first loop, and generates an analog difference signal. The second loop compares this analog difference with the power supply output voltage, and a VCO in this second loop converts result of this comparison to a second digital frequency signal. The digital frequency signals of the two loops are fed respectively to two registers and the content of the registers are subtracted, one from the other, to generate a digital error signal adjust the power supply output voltage to the input frequency.

  • Publication number: 20060122776
Abstract: A method of searching an inventory of satellite remote sensing data for data granules, scenes, or images that cover a specified area of interest whereby each data granule is indexed to the relevant ascending equatorial crossing of the satellite. Representative points in the area of interest are traced backwards along the orbital track to determine where the satellite must have crossed the equator on the ascending pass in order for the sensor to have seen the area of interest. Spatial search of the data is thereby reduced to a simple search on a range of crossing longitudes.

  • Publication number: 20060072076
Abstract: A method and system of selectively projecting images is disclosed. An illuminated area is created on a projection surface by directing a light source to the projection surface. The illuminated area is detected with a camera. Electrical signals are transmitted from the camera to the projector, the electrical signals being indicative of the position of the illuminated area in relation to the projection surface. Based on the received electrical signals, an image and a second image are projected on the projection surface. The image is projected on the illuminated area of the projection surface. The second image is projected on an area of the projection surface that is not illuminated by the light source. Applications of this method and system include the projection of background and foreground images creating the illusion of an x-ray beam, the projection of a normal image and an overblown image creating the illusion of a magnifying light beam.

  • Publication number: 20060013037
Abstract: A read/write circuit for accessing chalcogenide non-volatile memory cells is disclosed. The read/write circuit includes a chalcogenide storage element, a voltage limiting circuit, a current-to-voltage converter, and a buffer circuit. The voltage limiting circuit, which is coupled to the chalcogenide storage element, ensures that voltages across the chalcogenide storage element will not exceed a predetermined value during a read operation. During a read operation, the current-to-voltage converter, which is coupled to the voltage limiting circuit, converts a current pulse read from the chalcogenide storage element to a voltage pulse. By sensing the voltage pulse from the current-to-voltage converter, the buffer circuit can determine a storage state of the chalcogenide storage element.

  • Publication number: 20050213367
Abstract: A circuit for accessing a chalcogenide memory array is disclosed. The chalcogenide memory array includes multiple subarrays with rows and columns formed by chalcogenide storage elements. The chalcogenide memory array is accessed by discrete read and write circuits. Associated with a respective one of the subarrays, each of the write circuits includes an independent write 0 circuit and an independent write 1 circuit. Also associated with a respective one of the subarrays, each of the read circuits includes a sense amplifier circuit. In addition, a voltage level control module is coupled to the read and write circuits to ensure that voltages across the chalcogenide storage elements within the chalcogenide memory array do not exceed a predetermined value during read and write operations.
