  • Publication number: 20240303253
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for capturing workloads in a multidimensional database environment. Workloads in the multidimensional database environment can be captured over a period of time as an archive file, which can be replayed using a standalone player against the same multidimensional database environment, or a different multidimensional database environment. The standalone player can selectively replay any portion of the archive file. Results from the replay can be compared to original base results in the recorded archive; and any difference between the results can be displayed. The player can filter out noise and expected differences, and display unexpected differences, including paths for potential issues, for use in troubleshooting, and environment and patching validation.

  • Patent number: 9860316
Abstract: A technology for routing traffic from similar users to a same server cluster to improve data center efficiency is disclosed. When a traffic routing server receives a request from a user, the traffic routing server determines an identifier of a partition to which the user is assigned. The user and many other users with whom the user shares a social attribute are co-located in the same partition. The traffic routing server then computes a hash of the identifier using a hash function and locates a server cluster on a consistent hash ring using the computed hash. The traffic routing server then sends the request from the user to that server cluster. By consistently sending requests from users assigned to the same partition to the same server cluster, the technology improves cache hit rates and reduces data duplication across the server clusters, which in turn improves datacenter efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9699187
Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems receive a request from a user to access content for a group of users of a social networking system, and send the content to the user including an interface to a third party system. The interface is to enable the user to retrieve information related to a third party service from the third party system to share with the group. The user sends the information related to the third party service to share with the group to the social networking system. The social networking system sends the shared information related to the third party service to a group member based on the group member requesting access to the content. In one embodiment, the third party service stores a file or folder on a third party server and the shared information includes a link to the shared file or folder.

  • Patent number: 9022609
Abstract: A novel means for reducing the maintenance costs of cobra head lighting fixtures is presented, comprised of a new housing with a hinge at one end that allows the upper half of the housing to be lifted up for easy access to the lamp and ballast. There is a contact pressure switch in the enclosure which is opened electrically when the upper housing is lifted so that power to the entire enclosure is cut for the safety of the installer. The combination of the switch and the liftable upper housing reduces the steps necessary to do a bulb replacement.

  • Publication number: 20110026245
Abstract: An improved ceiling light fixture reflector is presented where the reflector is completely sealed to prevent any heated air from escaping through the fixture or its surrounds. The reflector also prevents cooled air from air conditioning from escaping through the fixture apertures. This improved insulation of ceiling lighting fixtures helps to eliminate the conversion of snow into ice on the surface of roofs due to the escape of moist, heated air through the ceiling and then to the roof, where it freezes into ice and expands thereby cracking the roof During warmer months, this improved airtight lighting fixture also reduces cooled air losses and improves the air conditioning efficiency of buildings and saves energy.

  • Publication number: 20090138925
Abstract: The present invention is directed to systems and methods for distributing and managing media assets arranged as a collection of media content. In one preferred embodiment, the collection of media content is distributed to a storage location where it is accessible for viewing over a communications network by consumers for a selected interval of time. In another preferred embodiment, media content is downloaded to a client content database and made accessible for a selected interval of time by client software at the consumer's location.

  • Publication number: 20070111019
Abstract: Methods for manufacturing an engineered wood product are disclosed. The method includes contacting at least part of a first set of wood pieces with a first resin; contacting at least part of a second set of wood pieces with a second resin, wherein the second resin is more washout resistant than the first resin; orienting the first and second set of wood pieces to provide a blanket of oriented pieces, the blanket of oriented pieces including a core layer formed of the second set of wood pieces sandwiched between a pair of face layers formed of the first set of wood pieces; steam preheating at least a portion of the blanket of oriented pieces; and curing the first and second resins by exposing at least a part of the blanket of oriented pieces to at least one of an elevated temperature, an elevated pressure, and radiant energy.

  • Publication number: 20070104860
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to an all-dry encapsulation method that enables well-defined polymers to be applied around particles of sizes down to the nanoscale. In certain embodiments, the methods are modified forms of initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) using a thermally-initiated radical polymerization to create conformal coatings around individual particles while avoiding agglomeration. The present invention also enables the coating of particle surfaces with a range of functional groups via direct incorporation of the functionality into the monomers used or indirectly through a subsequent modification of the surface of a coated particle. In certain embodiments, the method produces high quality functional polymer coatings.
