  • Patent number: 10649939
Abstract: Systems and methods for establishing connections and routing data via high-density cabling are described herein. In one or more embodiments, a network switch or other device maps different respective subsets of differential pairs in a cable to different respective network nodes of a plurality of network nodes that are connected to the network device via the cable. The network device then receives a data packet for a particular network node of the plurality of network nodes that are connected to the network device via the cable. Responsive to receiving the data packet, the network device identifies a particular subset of differential pairs in the cable that are mapped to the particular network node. The network device then sends the data packet of the particular subset of differential pairs to the particular network node.

  • Patent number: 10467168
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for modular expansion of data storage libraries. In one or more embodiments, an apparatus for modularly expanding a base module apparatus comprises a plurality of drive trays and a network switch for coupling the apparatus to the base module apparatus. The first drive tray may be coupled to the network switch and include a first hardware processor that sends status information about a first hardware device to the base module apparatus over a first network path. The second drive tray may also be coupled to the network switch and include a second hardware processor that sends status information about a second hardware device to the base module apparatus over a second network path. Network addresses may be assigned to the hardware devices based on the module's position in the library relative to the base module.

  • Patent number: 7580220
Abstract: A cartridge magazine is shown for placement in a robotic media library. The magazine body has two walls to guide a tape cartridge into a final stopping position. A prong extends into the cartridge from a first wall and an opening is formed in the second wall to permit a friction pad to contact an opposing side of the cartridge. The friction pad is mounted onto a lever that rotates upon a pivot outside a cartridge chamber on the magazine body. The lever is pushed by a spring to ordinarily extend the friction pad well into vacant cartridge chambers. An operator pad of the lever may extend out of the magazine body for engagement by an operator or by door pressures to retract the friction pad so that the cartridge becomes either disengaged, or slightly engaged with the friction pad.

  • Patent number: 6683793
Abstract: A backplane is disclosed for attaching storage devices to the backplane that utilize removable media. The backplane is distributed and scalable. The backplane includes a generally horizontal portion for distributing electronic signals to the storage devices and a plurality of connectors coupled to said generally horizontal portion for receiving the storage devices. The storage devices are coupled to the backplane utilizing the generally horizontal portion. The storage devices are not coupled to the backplane utilizing a front or a back of any one of the storage devices such that the front and back of each storage device remain accessible when the storage devices are coupled to the backplane.

  • Patent number: 6155659
Abstract: A storage library system for storing cartridges having cartridge notches formed therein includes a receiver and magazine assembly. The receiver forms an opening therein and includes an actuator member. The magazine is adapted for engagement within the receiver opening. The magazine includes a plurality of cells formed therein for receiving the cartridges. The magazine includes a locking member engageable with the actuator member to hold the locking member longitudinally in place between locked and unlocked positions with respect to the notch of each cartridge for automatically locking and unlocking the cartridge in each of the plurality of cells as the magazine is longitudinally moved with respect to the receiver and the locking member.
