The system avoids passage of fuel vapors into the atmosphere during the transfer operation by providing a preferential path back into the fuel tank or other vapor storage devices through a central, vacuum assist apparatus. It further includes devices to avoid the inadvertent accumulation of condensate in the vapor lines by passing liquid around the vapor metering valve and directing it to a vapor receptacle.
