  • Patent number: 4257411
Abstract: A surgical drill guide tool adapted to be temporarily mounted about a distal portion of the femur for drilling a bony tunnel through a portion of the femur, in a precise manner. The surgical tool allows very efficient location of the drill exit within the intercondylar notch, and exact drill exit location is very critical in reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, for example. The surgical tool drill guide is characterized by having a first and second upright, with first and second drill sheaths located at their respective distal ends wherein transverse mounting means are provided to allow the surgeon to position the first and second drill sheaths tightly against opposite surfaces of the femur, for example, to provide a continuing and exact alignment for the drilling of the bony tunnel.
