Patent number: 8443653Abstract: A breakaway tooling apparatus connectable to a manipulator and at least one tool for limiting the amount of damage to the associated manipulator and tool when the apparatus accidentally engages an obstacle. The detection mount has a narrowed neck region and stepped throughbore adjacent the narrowed neck region for creating a weakened portion that will fracture upon the realization of a predetermined force to the detection mount. An air passageway extends from an outer portion of the detection mount to an inner portion of the detection mount, wherein the air passageway is connectable to a supply of pressurized air. A blocking member prevents the pressurized air from passing through the air passageway in the detection mount when the detection mount is not fractured at the weakened portion, and the blocking member allows pressurized air to flow through the air passageway in the detection mount when the detection mount is fractured at the weakened portion.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2009Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Norgren Automation Solutions, LLCInventor: Kenneth P. Dellach

Patent number: 8240460Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a moving conveyor belt of a conveyor belt assembly. The apparatus includes an enclosed housing connectable to the conveyor belt assembly, wherein the housing has an open portion adjacent to the moving conveyor belt. A hub is rotatably connected to and within the enclosed housing, and a plurality of wipers are releasably connected to and extend outward from the hub. A driving means rotates the hub and the wipers such that the plurality of wipers at least partially engage and wipe the conveyor belt clean, as the wipers rotate through the open portion of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2010Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Inventors: Michael James Bleau, Jeffrey J. Dellach, Kenneth P. Dellach

Patent number: 8162557Abstract: A multi-axis coupling apparatus for adjustably mounting modular tooling members. The multi-axis coupling apparatus provides a first coupling member connectable to a substantially cylindrical boom for providing linear and rotational adjustment along and about a longitudinal axis of the cylindrical boom. A second coupling member is connected to the first coupling member and is connectable to a modular tooling member for providing adjustment to the modular tooling member about and along an axis extending at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical boom.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2006Date of Patent: April 24, 2012Assignee: Norgren Automation Solutions, LLCInventors: Donald Van Zile, III, Jeffery J. Dellach, Kenneth P. Dellach, Henry J. Brohl, III

Patent number: 8132312Abstract: A method for manufacturing a vacuum cup mount including the steps of providing a housing having a mount base and a generally upstanding wall extending from the mount base, providing a retainer having an aperture that extends from an upper side of the retainer to a lower side of the retainer and a plurality of recesses formed on the lower side of the retainer in communication with the aperture, placing the retainer on the mount base so that the lower side of the retainer faces the mount base, and bending at least a portion of the generally upstanding wall so that the bent portion of the generally upstanding wall engages the upper surface of the retainer to secure the retainer with respect to the mount base.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2008Date of Patent: March 13, 2012Assignee: Norgren Automation Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth P. Dellach

Patent number: 7779716Abstract: A quick disconnect tooling apparatus for releasably latching an end effector tool to a manipulator. The present invention provides a base module connectable to a manipulator, and a tool module connectable to the end effector tool. A power source coupling has a first portion coupled to the base module, and a second portion coupled to the tool module, wherein the first and second portions of the power source coupling may cooperatively engage one another to allow for the passing of power between the manipulator and the end effector tool.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: ATI Industrial Automation, Inc.Inventors: Jeffery J. Dellach, Kenneth P. Dellach, Donald van Zile, III, Henry J. Brohl, III, Michael L. Gloden

Publication number: 20100150743Abstract: An apparatus for providing vacuum to a material handling device. The apparatus of the present invention provides a housing having an aperture extending therethrough. The aperture has an inlet end for receiving a supply of pressurized air and an outlet end. A valve is slidably disposed within said aperture of said housing for movement between a vacuum position, wherein vacuum is provided to the material handling device through the use of a venturi, and a release position, wherein atmosphere air pressure is provided directly to said material handling device.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2009Publication date: June 17, 2010Applicant: Norgren Automotive, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth P.
