  • Patent number: 5409512
Abstract: An air filtration system for use in capturing fugitive dust in industrial sweeping operations includes a hopper having internal structure for causing change in the direction of flow of suction air which enters the hopper along with debris collected during an industrial sweeping operation. A plurality of filters is disposed within the hopper for filtering the suction air, each one of the plurality of filters having filter media therein which can be repeatedly purged for cleaning and continuous reuse thereof. Structure is included for providing repeated purging blasts of air to the plurality of filters, and structure is associated with each one of the plurality of filters for causing the purging blasts of air to clean substantially the entire filter media of each one of the filters.

  • Patent number: 5249332
Abstract: An apparatus for automated sweeping of debris from pavement surfaces is provided with a rigid housing, paired roller brooms rotatably mounted transversely within the housing parallel in relation to each other such that the right end of the forward roller broom, as from the position of an operator of the apparatus, rotates clockwise and the right end of the rearward roller broom, from the same viewpoint, operates counterclockwise. A debris outlet for exit of debris from inside the housing to the exterior thereof is provided along with an auger conveyor for focusing movement of debris between the housing and the rearward roller broom toward the debris outlet. A plurality of support wheels are rotatably attached to the housing and welded connections are provided for attaching the apparatus to a prime mover to permit propulsion of the apparatus along the surface to be swept, as well as for transport of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4741072
Abstract: A railroad track cleaner of non-self-motivational character which comprises a frame carrying front and rear wheels for rail traverse. The frame contains a housing for a transversely disposed, rotatably mounted broom assembly in the forward portion thereof and an axially parallel, rotatable feed conveyor located upwardly and rearwardly of the broom assembly and having a central spacing. A flipper or particle impeller is provided within said feed conveyor central spacing in alignment with a debris discharge port formed in the overlying portion of the housing. An air inlet port is provided in the housing forwardly of said debris discharge port. The cleaner is detachably engageable at the rearward end thereof to an automotive vehicle for travel, which vehicle is provided with a debris receptacle connected to a conventional vacuum. A flexible conduit is provided for extension between said cleaner discharge port and said vehicle hopper for withdrawal by said vacuum of debris swept by said broom assembly.
