  • Patent number: 7103847
Abstract: A system for monitoring a resource in a processing system is disclosed. The processing system includes a display. The system comprises a total resource graphic provided on the display. The total resource graphic represents the total resource. The system includes at least one allocation graphic provided within the total resource graphic. The allocation graphic represents the proportion of the resources allocated to an object. The system and method in accordance with the present invention allows for allocation of a resource across all demands, the relative size of the allocations, and the usage of the resource by the individual demanding operation within a single graphical object. In addition, the object would provide for changes to that allocation by direct manipulation, in addition, the status indicator would provide additional information on demand by the user.

  • Patent number: 6850254
Abstract: An apparatus and method of allowing a user to set relationships between two or more parameters are provided. To set up the relationship, the user invokes a dialog box within which all available parameters, as well as their current relationship, are displayed. The user is allowed to change present relationships or set up totally new relationships using parameters that are presently used or unused or combining presently used and unused parameters. Once done, the new values of the parameters are displayed. Furthermore, if a user changes the displayed value of one parameter, displayed values of the other related parameters are automatically updated.

  • Publication number: 20030093699
Abstract: A method and system for authorizing access to networked information using a graphically based password. In one embodiment, access to a restricted document is granted only after the user has demonstrated its authority to access the information by identifying a previously determined sequence of graphical images. If the user identifies the correct images, the user is granted access to the restricted information. In one embodiment, the graphical images may be presented to the user as a sequence of web pages where each page has multiple graphical images (icons). On each page in the sequence, the user selects (such as by clicking) the correct icon. The icon may be implemented as a link to the next web page in the password sequence. As each page is presented, the user clicks the correct icon thereby generating a sequence of accessed web pages. The server then verifies the user as an authorized user by comparing the sequence of web pages visited by the user to a predetermined sequence.

  • Publication number: 20030074455
Abstract: A server system and method in which the server determines whether a requesting client is accessing a requested document or page in a manner contemplated by the server. The server may first determine whether the client has direct access authority such as by interpreting cookie information supplied with the client request. The client may obtain direct access authority if the client has previously accessed server documents in a prescribed manner. If the client lacks direct access, the server may determine if the client has been referred or quoted to the requested page by a third party server or referrer that has authority to refer clients to the requested page. The server device may maintain a table of information in its storage to facilitate the determination of which referring parties have authority to which documents on the server.

  • Patent number: 6380957
Abstract: A method of viewing a directory tree containing logical file system objects residing on a computer system, by displaying a directory tree on a display device of the computer system utilizing a graphical user interface (GUI), expanding a first node of the tree to reveal one or more branches of the first node, and then later expanding a second node of the tree to reveal one or more branches of the second node, wherein the invention automatically collapses the first node of the tree to conceal the one or more branches of the first node in response to the expanding of the second node. This automatic collapsing of other nodes that are not in the path of the selected node thus limits overall expansion of the tree. The setting may be toggled between enabled and disabled states. A pull-down menu can be provided by the GUI which contains the “limit expansion” command.

  • Patent number: 5721901
Abstract: A method, system and program for providing a graphical interface for a database are accomplished by the operation of a process in the memory of a processor. A selected entry in the database is dynamically used as input to a conditional definition dialog box. The definition of individual conditions, the definition of the relationship of conditions to the selected entries, the editing of conditions, and the editing of the relationship of conditions is simplified and rendered dynamic and interactive for the user thereby facilitating the completion of the task being performed. The user need not remember the related column information for a specified predicate because the system will provide that information simultaneously with the conditional definition in a form that supports the direct manipulation of the related information. The selected entries and their relationship are displayed simultaneously with the definition activities for both the initial definition and any subsequent editing activities.
