Publication number: 20220338481Abstract: A method of controlling a biofilm comprises contacting the biofilm with probiotic species and contacting the biofilm with chemical disinfectant. The biofilm may be contacted with the probiotic species and the chemical disinfectant simultaneously or sequentially. The method provides a higher reduction in the amount of at least one microbial species in the biofilm, compared to a similar method applying only the chemical disinfectant. Furthermore, the method may provide an unexpected synergy between the probiotic species and the chemical disinfectant in controlling the biofilm.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2020Publication date: October 27, 2022Inventors: Xiaobao Li, Bret Glembocki, Dale Grinstead, Kenneth Roach, David Limbaugh

Publication number: 20110291602Abstract: An electromagnetic pulse engine is disclosed. The engine includes a housing, a drum concentrically mounted within the housing and adapted to rotate therein, a plurality of permanent magnets mounted about an internal cylindrical wall of the drum, and a plurality of electromagnets mounted radially about an annular bearing. Successive permanent magnets of the plurality of permanent magnets have an opposing polarity facing inward, where at least one electromagnet of the plurality of electromagnets is adapted to be selectively energized and de-energized to attract a first permanent magnet and to repel a second permanent magnet to rotate the drum about the plurality of permanent magnets. In addition, the engine includes an axial shaft that is secured to the drum for rotating therewith, where the annular bearing supporting the plurality of electromagnets is secured against rotation relative to the axial shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2010Publication date: December 1, 2011Applicant: EMPE, LLCInventor: Kenneth Roach

Publication number: 20050053465Abstract: A vertical axis tower fan apparatus having an adjustable support column. The tower fan apparatus is comprised of a support base, a telescopic support column adjustable between fixed, retracted and extended positions, a vertical axis propeller encased within a housing, and a motor. The vertical axis propeller is contained within the cylindrical housing, wherein the housing is rotatably coupled to one end of the support column. The fan is rotatably connected to the top of the support column and is adapted to rotate freely thereon, when activated. The opposing end of the column is insertable into the support base. The telescopic column is comprised of a hollow pillar and an extendable member removably inserted within the hollow pillar. The column is manually adjustable to a variety of heights to provide cooling air to different target heights via the use of an adjustable locking sleeve.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2003Publication date: March 10, 2005Inventors: Kenneth Roach, Thomas Rosenberry
