  • Patent number: 4692032
Abstract: A clock design incorporates both digital and analog aspects. An "hour" ball riding a vertically oriented spiral raceway is lifted in a straight line from the bottom of the outer spiral to the bottom of the inner spiral as the raceway rotates at the rate of one revolution per hour, its presence on a given spiral constituting a digital selection of the hour associated with that given spiral. A "minute" ball is fixedly mounted on the raceway periphery, its rotational orientation constituting an analog selection of the minutes.

  • Patent number: 4067771
Abstract: A method for periodic testing of a spray system in a nuclear reactor containment. The method includes injecting a gas into the spray system such that a temperature differential exists between the gas and the containment atmosphere. Scanning the gas jet discharged from the spray nozzles with infrared apparatus then provides a real-time thermal image on a monitor, such as a cathode ray tube, and detects any partially or completely blocked nozzles in the spray system. The scanning may be performed from the containment operating deck.
