  • Patent number: 8683355
Abstract: A chat space system is provided. The chat space system comprises at least one computer system and a chat space application that when executed on at least one computer system receives a plurality of audio recordings, at least some of the audio recordings formatted to initiate one of a plurality of chat themes and the other audio recordings associated with one of the chat themes, converts a chat theme audio title contained in each of the audio recordings formatted to initiate one of the chat themes to a chat theme text title and stores the audio recordings according to chat themes. In response to receiving a request from a first device for a list of chat themes, retrieves the chat theme text titles from storage and transmits the chat theme text titles to the first device.

  • Patent number: 8339259
Abstract: An alarm device is provided. The alarm device comprises a processor, an alerting component, a communication interface, and an alarm application. The communication interface receives messages encapsulating an alarm control message from a third party. The alarm application, when executed by the processor, receives the message from the communication interface, validates the message based on a code embedded in the message, parses a body of the message to extract the encapsulated alarm control message, schedules an alarm event based on the body of the message, and activates the alerting component when the alarm event occurs.

  • Patent number: 8249552
Abstract: A service plan manager is provided, including a manager engine and a storage device to store data for a service account that comprises a pre-paid service plan associated with a first communication device and a post-paid service plan associated with a second communication device. The manager engine determines whether a balance associated with the pre-paid service plan is below a threshold, and communicates a request for increasing the balance to a device associated with the service account if the balance associated with the pre-paid service plan is below the threshold. The manager engine discontinues service for the first communication device until an approval of the request for increasing the balance is received, increases the balance in response to a receipt of the approval of the request for increasing the balance, and adds an amount associated with increasing the balance to an invoice associated with the service account.

  • Patent number: 8243907
Abstract: A system is provided for handset customer care. The system includes a handset, which includes a processor, a display, a dialer component, and a care component. The dialer component, when executed by the processor, intercepts a connection request associated with an entered number, and determines whether the entered number is associated with a specified service. The care component, when executed by the processor, provides service options to the display in response to a determination that the entered number is associated with the specified service. The care component also receives selection of at least one of the service options, and communicates with a server based on the selection. The handset connects to the entered number in response to a determination that the entered number is not associated with the specified service.

  • Patent number: 8135388
Abstract: A system is provided for managing communication network capacity. The system includes a processor, a data store, an analysis component, and a message component. The data store stores information associated with communication metrics for customers. The analysis component, when executed by the processor, determines a mean and a standard deviation for the communication metrics based on the stored information. The analysis component also determines whether the stored information associated with communication metrics for one of the customers is a predefined number of the standard deviation from the mean for more than a predefined number of days. The message component, when executed by the processor, sends a message to the one of the customers in response to a determination that stored information associated with the communication metrics for the one of the customers is the predefined number of the standard deviation from the mean for more than the predefined number of days.

  • Patent number: 8055238
Abstract: A system is provided for prepaid handset credit activation. The system includes a prepaid handset, a subscriber identity module, and a server. The prepaid handset is associated with a prepaid handset identifier. The subscriber identity module is associated with a subscriber identity module identifier. The server communicates with a communication device to receive the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier and determines whether both of the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier are associated with prior activation. The server also applies credit to account information associated with the prepaid handset in response to a determination that both of the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier are not associated with the prior activation, and activates the prepaid handset for user communication in response to applying credit to the account information associated with the prepaid handset.
