  • Patent number: 5014818
Abstract: A step-stool for enabling a child to climb up to the top surface of a cabinet made of a top piece, a bottom piece and a middle step or platform piece adapted to slide out from between the top piece and the bottom piece to form a step. Two T-shaped spacers, one on each side, provide a channel for the middle platform piece to move outward and form the step. Screws, nails, or nuts and bolts act as fasteners to fit through the top piece, the two spacers and the bottom piece to hold them together, leave room for the middle slidable platform piece to be pulled out and to anchor the step-stool to a cabinet or other floor. The components of the step-stool of the invention may be marketed as a kit, put together to form an unanchored step-stool or anchored to a cabinet or other floor.

  • Patent number: 4740164
Abstract: Insertion and extraction of a circuit board (40) into and from a car guide (10) is aided by a lever-like, rigid, elongated member (66) hingedly attached at one hinged end (62) thereof to one side (22) of the card guide (10). The other nonhinged end (64) of the member (66) is manipulatable so that the member (66) may be moved between an open and a closed position. A bump (70) on the member (66) contacts the trailing edge (44) of the circuit board during insertion as the member (66) is moved to its closed position. In the closed position, the member (66) extends from one hinge side (22) of the card guide (10) to the other nonhinge side (12) thereof. A locking device (94) on the nonhinge side (12) of the card guide (10) releasably engages the nonhinge end (64) of the member (66) in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4663905
Abstract: A skylight assembly for installation in an opening in the pitched roof of a building, comprising a window hinged at one end with respect to the roof, and a rubbery flashing member for maintaining a water-tight seal between the window and roof. The flashing member includes a planar portion for attachment to the roof, beneath the shingles, in an area adjacent to the opening, a portion for attachment to each side of the window, and a gusset portion between each attachment portion and the planar portion. The gusset portion expands and contracts as the window is opened and closed, respectively. All the portions of the flashing member are integrally formed at one piece. The gussets may be accordian-folded and may taper toward the hinged end of the window. The attachment portions of the flashing may be sandwiched between the window pane and window frame to serve as a gasket between those parts of the window.

  • Patent number: 4610116
Abstract: A skylight assembly including a frame for securement within an opening in a pitched roof, and a window supported within the frame. Water flowing down the roof is directed, such as by a specially shaped flashing, to flow on to the window, and water flowing down the window is directed, such as by another specially shaped flashing, to flow on to the roof below the skylight frame. No part of the window projects outwardly beyond the outer edge of the skylight frame, and the window pivots inwardly to open the slylight. A window screen automatically advances to cover the opening when the window is opened, and shades of different types can be pulled across the window.
