  • Publication number: 20140343691
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a systems and methods for control of external devices, such as a prosthesis, using biopotential signals from electrodes in communication with existing muscles or nerves of a patient. More specifically, but not exclusively, this disclosure relates to systems that include wireless transmission of biopotential signals and a multichannel bioamplifier configured to receive biopoential signals. The system may also be configured to stimulate excitable tissue within the body.

  • Patent number: 8690793
Abstract: A biopsy device includes a probe assembly and a driver unit. The probe assembly includes a first cannula having a first aperture extending to a lumen proximal to a first distal end of the first cannula. A second cannula has a second aperture extending to a lumen proximal to the second distal end of the second cannula. The second cannula is disposed co-axially with the first cannula. A least one of the first aperture and the second aperture has a cutting edge. The driver unit is configured for releasably mounting the probe assembly. The driver unit is operatively configured to simultaneously rotate the first cannula and the second cannula at different rotational velocities so that the first aperture and the second aperture periodically come into alignment to form a virtual tissue sample aperture.

  • Publication number: 20080146958
Abstract: A self-contained seizure monitor device to monitor a subject for an electrographic seizure includes a pad with an adhesive layer to adhere to a subject's skin. At least two electroencephalographic electrodes are carried by the pad and spaced apart from one another to sense brain activity and generate a signal. A signal processing means is carried by the pad and electrically coupled to the electrodes to process the signal. An indicator is carried by the pad and electrically coupled to the signal processing means to indicate seizure information. A power source is carried by the pad and electrically coupled to the electrodes, the signal processing means, and the indicator.

  • Publication number: 20080091089
Abstract: A single-use, self-contained device to monitor at least one physiological parameter of a subject includes a physiological sensor to sense a subject physiological parameter and generate a physiological signal. An integrated circuit is coupled to the at least one physiological sensor and processes the physiological signal. An indicator is electrically coupled to the integrated circuit and indicates information associated with the physiological parameter or the subject. A power source is electrically coupled to the physiological sensor and the indicator. A housing carries the physiological sensor, the integrated circuit, the indicator and the power source. The device includes means for limiting the device to a single use.
