  • Patent number: 11362459
Abstract: A method of forming a fluid resistant insulator for use in a connector includes collecting a part having a surface and electrically insulating properties. The method further includes applying a superhydrophobic sealant to the surface of the part having the electrically insulating properties. The method further includes curing the part with the superhydrophobic sealant applied to allow the superhydrophobic sealant to dry.

Date of Patent: June 14, 2022
    Assignee: SMITHS INTERCONNECT AMERICAS, INC.

  • Publication number: 20050004724
Abstract: An interface includes a base with locking flanges for securing the base to a second structure within a vehicle. A plurality of switch caps are pivotably supported on the base and extend through apertures formed in the base. Each switch cap has a first surface and a second surface such that pressure applied to one of the first surface and the second surface causes limited rocking motion of the switch cap and actuation of a corresponding momentary contact switch.

  • Patent number: 6062893
Abstract: A stamped and formed metal adapter frame is provided for mounting an electrical connector in an aperture in a panel. The frame includes a receptacle portion positionable in the aperture in the panel for receiving the electrical connector. Supporting wall portions project from the receptacle portion. At least one first stiffening rib is formed in at least one of the wall portions and includes a stop for abutting the panel. At least one second stiffening rib is formed in at least one of the wall portions and defines a guide rail for the electrical connector inserted through the receptacle portion. Integral flexible gasket fingers are formed about the periphery of the receptacle portion. At least one mounting peg is insertable into a mounting hole in a printed circuit board and includes at least two levels of engaging surfaces for engaging at least two printed circuit boards of different thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 5755526
Abstract: A ball and socket joint (10) includes a socket (20) having a chamber (120). A ball stud (40) includes a ball end (50). The ball end (50) is movable relative to the socket (20) in a first direction (186) into the chamber (120) in the socket. The socket (20) has first portions (142, 144, 152, 154) engageable with the ball end (50) for blocking rotation of the ball end about a first axis (56) during movement of the ball end into the chamber (120). A resilient retainer (180) is deflected during movement of the ball end (50) into the chamber (120). When the ball end (50) is in the chamber (120), the retainer (180) straightens to rotate the ball end into an operating position in the chamber. The socket (20) has second portions (130, 146, 162, 166) engageable with the ball end (50) for blocking movement of the ball end out of the chamber (120) when the ball end is in the operating position.
