    Abstract: The invention concerns a pipe assembly and a method of constructing it. The assembly comprises an inner pipe 2 and a tubular outer skin 8 which includes polymer material. Settable insulation material 4 is introduced between the inner pipe and the outer skin. In accordance with the invention an interior of the surface is shaped to provide a mechanical key, so that following setting of the insulation material it forms an insulating layer around the inner pipe which is mechanically keyed to the interior surface of the outer skin.
