Patent number: 4909519Abstract: A pressure resistant system for joining concrete pipes in an end to end relationship is disclosed. The first pipe terminates in a bell end and the second pipe terminates in a spigot end with the spigot end surrounded by a seal member and the inner surface of the bell also surrounded by a seal member. Each seal member has internal ribs which extend into and are embedded in the concrete pipe. The spigot end sealing ring includes an internal flap extending substantially perpendicular thereto across an internal offset face of the spigot and a lip extending across a portion of the end face. A rib of reduced length is disposed adjacent the lip and midway between the lip and the flap. Patent number: 4496724Abstract: Controlled release pesticide-polymers are prepared by reacting a polymer having a pendant group containing a reactive hydrogen with a chloroformamide derivative of a pesticide. In a preferred embodiment, metribuzin chloroformamide is prepared by reacting metribuzin with phosgene at a temperature of about 40.degree. C. The metribuzin chloroformamide is then reacted with cellulose to form a pesticide-polymer from which the metribuzin is released under use conditions by hydrolytic degradation of the carbamate bond attaching the metribuzin to the polymer.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1982Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Inventors: Charles L. Patent number: 4394025Abstract: An improved seal system for the bell and spigot joint of a concrete pipe. The seal includes a bell sealing ring and a spigot sealing ring, each constructed of plastic material which when the spigot is received in the bell form a compression seal which will withstand substantial internal pressure without leaking. The ring members include, respectively, outwardly directed and inwardly directed ridges or flanges which are embedded in the respective bell and spigot ends of the concrete pipe. The spigot end ring, however, includes a central concave depression which extends into the concrete and receives an O-ring, and a lower depending flange also embedded in the concrete forming the spigot end. The joint of this invention then forms a reinforced concrete pipe capable of withstanding substantial internal pressure at least up to 50-60 pounds per square inch.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1981Date of Patent: July 19, 1983Assignee: Anderson Seal Company, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth W. Patent number: 4295044Abstract: A flow switch apparatus and method for use in determining the quantity of a beverage liquid passing through a conduit, the apparatus including a light path across the conduit and an actuator arm interposed across the light path, the actuator arm being activated by fluid flow through the conduit. The light path is formed by a light source transmitting light toward a light detector. The light detector produces an electronic signal when adequate light received by the light detector. The signal produced by the switch apparatus is in the form of digital logic voltage levels which can be monitored remotely by conventional electronic apparatus to accumulate the flow information provided by the flow switch. The conduit is adapted to be vertically oriented to accommodate the actuator arm resting under gravity in occulusion of the light path when there is no fluid flow in the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1980Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: Electronic Systems Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth W. Patent number: 4195522Abstract: A flowmeter apparatus and method for use in measuring the quantity of liquid beverage passing through a tubing, the apparatus including a flowmeter wheel adapted to be turned by the flow of beverage through the tubing. The flowmeter wheel is interposed in a light path between a light source and a light detector with a plurality of apertures in the flowmeter wheel permitting light passage through the light path to the light detector. Rotation of the wheel creates a series of light pulses that are detected by the light detector and are electronically counted to thereby provide an indication of the amount of beverage passing through the flowmeter and, correspondingly, the tubing.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1978Date of Patent: April 1, 1980Assignee: Electronic Systems Engineering, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth W.
