Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for automatically generating an e911 alert are provided in a public safety answering point (PSAP) server including at least one messaging interface supporting message-based interaction with one or more user devices, wherein in response to a request for assistance message including location information associated with a user device, the PSAP server determines the emergency services resources proximate the requesting device and communicates location information associated with the requesting device toward the determined emergency services resources.

Abstract: A telephony kiosk and method of providing communications services using a telephony kiosk. A preferred telephony kiosk includes a cabinet on which are mounted a user interface and an operator interface, as well as a number of handsets. The handsets preferably include a minimal number of components so that they cost less than fully-functional personal communications devices and to provide a disincentive for theft. Inside the cabinet in this embodiment is an RF module containing a plurality of RF chains that each including a transceiver for sending and receiving communications between one or more handset and a communications network (or networks). A handset manager bridges the handset cord to the RF module. The kiosk is preferably portable.

Abstract: Various method and apparatus are provided directed to load allocation. In one embodiment, a distributor distributes a load to one of a plurality of peer nodes, each peer node having associated thereto a corresponding scalar based on a load factor value, the scalar of the one peer node satisfying a load management condition. The corresponding scalar of the plurality of peer nodes may be tested in a sequentially order until the load management condition is satisfied by the scalar of the one peer nodes. Testing may include threshold testing and begin with the scalar of a last remote peer node to which a most recent prior load was distributed. When the load management condition is satisfied by a scalar, it is decremented based on the load factor value, which may approximate a first number divided by the number of peer nodes in the plurality.
