  • Publication number: 20180158451
Abstract: A diarization embodiment may include a system that clusters data up to a current point in time and consolidates it with the past decisions, and then returns the result that minimizes the difference with past decisions. The consolidation may be achieved by performing a permutation of the different possible labels and comparing the distance. For speaker diarization, a distance may be determined based on a minimum edit or hamming distance. The distance may alternatively be a measure other than the minimum edit or hamming distance. The clustering may have a finite time window over which the analysis is performed.

  • Publication number: 20150179165
Abstract: Labeling a call, for instance by identifying an intent (i.e., the reason why the caller has called into the call center), of a caller in a conversation between a caller and an agent is a useful task for efficient customer relationship management (CRM). In an embodiment, a method of labeling sentences for presentation to a human can include selecting an intent bearing excerpt from sentences, presenting the intent bearing excerpt to the human, and enabling the human to apply a label to each sentence based on the presentation of the intent bearing excerpt. The method can reduce a manual labeling budget while increasing the accuracy of labeling models based on manual labeling.

  • Publication number: 20140244249
Abstract: Identification of an intent of a conversation can be useful for real-time or post-processing purposes. According to example embodiments, a method, and corresponding apparatus of identifying at least one intent-bearing utterance in a conversation, comprises determining at least one feature for each utterance among a subset of utterances of the conversation; classifying each utterance among the subset of utterances, using a classifier, as an intent classification or a non-intent classification based at least in part on a subset of the at least one determined feature; and selecting at least one utterance, with intent classification, as an intent-bearing utterance based at least in part on classification results by the classifier. Through identification of an intent bearing utterance, a call center for example, can provide improved service for callers through, for example, more effective directing of a call to a live agent.

  • Patent number: 8660114
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling internet access telephone calls made via cable company telephone services. A head end data terminal receives cable signals and converts them into individual signals. An intelligent switch detects signals destined for an internet service provider and routes those signals on a separate path to the internet service provider. A central switch routes the other signals along a telephone network. A computer program can control the steps of receiving cable signals, converting them into voice band signals, routing the signals that are not for the intended recipient to a central switch, multiplexing the signals for the intended recipient together, and sending the multiplexed signals to the intended recipient.

  • Patent number: 7783636
Abstract: Query logs are accessed to obtain queries, user information that specifies a user from which the query was received, a long with a selected result that was selected by the specified user who authored the query. This query log information is used to identify classes of users that looked for a similar result given a similar query. Those classes can then be used by a search engine in order to rank or provide search results to a user in response to a query input by the user.

  • Patent number: 7778837
Abstract: Systems and methods that create a classification of sentences in a language, and further construct associated local versions of language models, based on geographical location and/or other demographic criteria—wherein such local language models can be of different levels of granularity according to chosen demographic criteria. The subject innovation employs a classification encoder component that forms a classification (e.g. a tree structure) of sentences, and a local language models encoder component, which employs the classification of sentences in order to construct the localized language models. A decoder component can subsequently enable local word wheeling and/or local web search by blending k-best answers from local language models of varying demographic granularity that match users demographics. Hence, k-best matches for input data by users in one demographic locality can be different from k-best matches for the same input by other users in another locality.

  • Patent number: 7769804
Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or methods that expand input data. An interface can obtain input data and a wildcard insertion component can modify the input data to include at least one implicit wildcard inserted at an end of each intended word. Additionally, an expansion component can generate a candidate list of expanded data based at least in part on the input data including the at least one implicit wildcard utilizing a language model that provides likely expansions of wildcards. Further, the expansion component can evaluate the input data at a server side.

  • Patent number: 7430633
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) that facilitate utilizing pre-cached disk space. Pre-cached memory space within a storage device is identified, and a subset of the pre-cached memory space is pre-populated with data so that the data can be selectively and dynamically accessed. During use of a computer (e.g., in a web-browsing session) a subset of the pre-stored data can be dynamically and selectively exposed to the user as a function of user and/or computer application state. Pre-storage of the data on pre-cached memory of the computer mitigates delayed data access (e.g., due to insufficient transmission bandwidth) thereby enhancing user computing experience. The user can utilize the device without having to distinguish between pre-cached and free memory. In other words, the operating system can present the cached memory to the user so that it appears as free memory without the user having to direct the system to do so.

  • Publication number: 20080140519
Abstract: Match criteria are provided to specify when advertisements will be shown, for instance in a search environment. Input such as search queries can be represented in a simplified form such as an implicit and/or explicit wildcard expression. Advertisers or other entities can bid on terms such that advertisements or similar content are presented when the terms match an expansion of a simplified input. Matching ads can subsequently be displayed alone or in combination with query expansion suggestions and/or query results.

  • Patent number: 5608622
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for comparing a text with its translation. The apparatus uses cognates in the text and the translation to make a list of first positions in the text and second positions in the translation. The second position specifies a location in the translation which is in the neighborhood of the translation of the first position in the text. By means of the list, a given location in the text can be related to a location in the translation which is in the neighborhood of the translation of the given location. The list permits parallel displays of the text and the translation and easy production of full-context concordances, glossaries, and histograms. Graphs based on the list can be used to detect parts of the text which are not in the translation and vice-versa. The list is made using a technique which iteratively computes an alignment path in a graph which records the positions of matching 4-grams in the text and the translation.
