  • Patent number: 6135724
Abstract: A system is provided for closed-loop control of a plurality of metering pumps driven by a single source of pressurized fluid. Feedback signals are generated that are proportional to output flow rate from each metering pump, such as velocity of a movable element of the pump with respect to a stationary element. Flow control valves are coupled between the source of pressurized fluid and the metering pumps. A controller receives the feedback signals and regulates flow from the flow control valves to each metering pump to maintain a desired level of output flow. The source of pressurized fluid may include a pressure compensated positive displacement pump having a maximum output flow rate at least equal to the anticipated combined flow rate of drive sections of the metering pumps.

  • Patent number: 6135719
Abstract: A system for metering a fluid, such as a catalyst in an industrial chemical process plant, includes a controller, a drive pump assembly and an injection pump assembly. The drive pump assembly forces reciprocation of the injection pump assembly via a controlled flow of hydraulic fluid. The injection pump assembly includes a drive cylinder and at least one injection section. The drive cylinder receives pressurized fluid from the drive pump assembly and causes metered fluid to be drawn into and expelled by the injection section. The position of reciprocating components of the injection pump assembly is detected between stroke limits and converted to a velocity signal. Closed-loop control of the flow from the injection pump assembly is implemented by the controller via the drive pump assembly based upon the actual velocity of the reciprocating components of the injection pump assembly and a commanded velocity.

  • Patent number: 5600629
Abstract: A method routes data packets between nodes in a satellite-based communication system based on header information contained in each of the packets. The header information which contains routing and overhead information indicates whether the packet header has been received without any errors and whether the payload is to be read and processed by the node currently servicing the packet or passed on to another adjacent node. This method works in systems that have packet delays or transmission impairments, such as satellite-based telecommunication systems.

  • Patent number: 5563879
Abstract: A method (50) reconstructs messages from segments (30) which are received in an unknown order and at different times. Each segment (30) comprises a header (31) and payload information (38). The method (50) reconstructs messages from the received segments (30) by reassembling the order as specified in the header (31) of the segment (30). Once the message is reconstructed, the message is delivered. This method (50) is especially important in satellite-based communications where no guarantee exists that the messages will be received in a sequential order or at a specified time.

  • Patent number: 4266279
Abstract: A data record memory system for use with a Doppler radar incorporating a fast Fourier transform computer wherein the memory system utilizes a single memory constructed to read out and write in data at each address and the data supplied to the memory is sequenced so that the data is read out of the memory system in numerical range bin order.
