  • Publication number: 20180180129
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a compression strut comprises a first strut body comprising a threaded end and a hollow end, and a second strut body comprising a threaded end and a shaped end. The hollow end of the first strut body is slidably coupled to the shaped end of the second strut body. A spring is disposed between the first strut body and the second strut body configured to resist longitudinal compression of the compression strut. The first strut body is rotationally coupled to the second strut body so that rotation of the first strut body also rotates the second strut body and rotation of the second strut body also rotates the first strut body. A first ball end is threaded to the first strut body and a second ball end is threaded to the second strut body.

  • Publication number: 20170217449
Abstract: A system for transporting vehicles includes a railcar, a deck, a fastener, a screw, and a travelling nut. The deck is positioned within the railcar and is for supporting a plurality of vehicles. The fastener is coupled to the deck and operable to couple the deck to a wall of the railcar. The fastener prevents a vertical position of the deck within the railcar to be adjusted when the deck is coupled to the wall by the fastener. The screw is coupled to the railcar and the travelling nut is operably coupled to the screw. The travelling nut is operable to adjust a vertical position of the deck within the railcar as a position of the travelling nut on the screw changes when the screw is turned.

  • Patent number: 4568316
Abstract: The multiple sheave mechanism is primarily intended for use on the outer end of a long boom of a crane. The mechanism includes a plurality of sheaves that have hubs supported for rotation on a shaft by anti-friction bearings. Each of the hubs have a cylindrical inner flange on one side and a cylindrical outer flange on the other side, and the hubs are axially spaced from each other with the outer flanges overlapping the inner flanges. The outer flange on one end sheave overlaps an annular retainer, and a second retainer overlaps the inner flange on the other end sheave. The cooperating flanges and retainers define circuitous passages which are filled with lubricant for providing a mechanical seal and a fluid seal which minimizes entry of dirt, dust and other debris into the bearings and maximizes the interval between required relubrication.
