  • Patent number: 4917567
Abstract: A log yarder including a support vehicle; a horizontally rotatable framework mounted on the vehicle; one or more booms mounted on the framework; an elongated heeling rack mounted on the most terminal boom; a slack kicker for skidding logs to the yarder; and a grapple for loading or placement of the logs so skidded. The combination of slack kicker and grapple enables a single operator to skid a fallen log to the grapple for loading the log for hauling or for deck placement. The slack kicker includes a cable which is threaded through one end of the heeling rack which may be used to skid the logs into a substantially aligned position with the grapple for convenient and efficient loading.

  • Patent number: 3966254
Abstract: A control structure for neutralizing the transmission of a dump truck when the console switch is in a "reverse" position to prevent the truck operator from inadvertently backing the truck in the event the transmission control is in the "reverse" position at the time the operator accelerates the truck engine to operate the hoist cylinder of the dump body. A conventional dump truck hydraulic transmission system is utilized with the control for the hoisting mechanism being electrically related thereto.

  • Patent number: 3940931
Abstract: An emergency hydraulic system for use in a vehicle having an engine which not only powers the vehicle but also drives a main hydraulic pump to supply hydraulic fluid under pressure to a hydraulic control means is disclosed. The emergency hydraulic system includes an auxiliary hydraulic pump driven by an electric motor to provide an auxiliary source of hydraulic fluid under pressure to the hydraulic control means under emergency conditions. An electrical control circuit for the electric motor is described which control circuit will automatically activate the electric motor whenever the engine is operating normally but the flow of hydraulic fluid from the main hydraulic pump falls below a given level and will automatically inactivate the electric motor whenever the engine is operating normally and the flow of hydraulic fluid from the main hydraulic pump is above a given level.
