  • Patent number: 11289216
Abstract: A securing device is installable on an outer circumferential surface of a nuclear reactor core shroud and in contact with an inner circumferential surface of a pressure vessel. The securing device includes a base configured for contacting the outer circumferential surface of the nuclear reactor core shroud. The securing device also includes a radial extender including an actuator, a stationary support section fixed to the base and a movable contact section. The radial extender is configured such that the movable contact section is movable along the stationary support section by the actuator to force the movable contact section radially into the inner circumferential surface of the pressure vessel.

  • Patent number: 10436227
Abstract: A sealing device for a jet pump of a boiling water reactor is provided. The jet pump includes an inlet mixer and a diffuser receiving the inlet mixer at a slip joint such that an outer circumferential surface of the inlet mixer is received in an inner circumferential surface of the diffuser at the slip joint. The diffuser includes a plurality of guiding fins, each guiding fin including a radially inner surface, a radially outer surface and lateral surfaces extending radially between the inner and outer surfaces. The sealing device includes a seal configured for sealingly contacting the outer circumferential surface of the inlet mixer and a collar configured for holding the seal against the outer circumferential surface of the inlet mixer. The collar includes portions configured for being received radially between the radially inner surfaces of the guiding fins and the outer circumferential surface of the inlet mixer.

  • Publication number: 20150159790
Abstract: A seal collar is disclosed and claimed. The seal is provided in two hinged parts that wrap around the piping to be sealed. The seal halves are connected to form a loop. The seal components may be formed of a shape memory alloy. Once the seal is properly positioned about the pipe, heat is applied to shrink the seal to provide a tight, sealing fit about the pipe. Alternatively, the clamp is formed of stainless steel and a bolt is used to secure the clamp halves to the mixer assembly.

  • Publication number: 20140079468
Abstract: A jet pump stabilizer is disclosed and claimed. The stabilizer includes a clamp body that is affixed about the riser pipe. Two U-clamps are connected to the clamp body, each U-clamp positioned about a jet pump mixer section. A wedge assembly is positioned between the clamp body and each mixer pipe, cooperating with the clamp body and U-clamps to laterally restrain the mixer sections. A clamp ring is positioned about each mixer section and retained in place by the U-clamps, wedge assemblies, and clamp body. A sealing ring is moveably connected to the clamp ring such that it is biased toward engagement with the jet pump diffuser. Seals provided on the stabilizer engage the jet pump assembly above and below the slip joint, preventing vibration-inducing leakage through the slip joint.
