Publication number: 20170175684Abstract: A heat exchanger for transferring heat between two fluids consists of a shell surrounding at least two tube bundles attached at both ends to a tube header. Each of the tube bundles is constructed from a plurality of individual tubes that are twisted into identical helixes formed about a common helical axis. Because each individual tube is formed in the shape of a helix, rather than as a straight tube, thermal elongation of the individual tubes results in a considerably reduced axial force on the tube attachments and tube header. Use of multiple tube bundles wound with opposite twist direction improves spacing efficiency between tubes.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2017Publication date: June 22, 2017Inventors: Kennieth Neal, Eugene Neal

Publication number: 20170145894Abstract: A method of modifying the oil cooling system of a diesel engine includes the steps of removing the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger and installing a manifold having a configuration adapted to match the mounting configuration of the oil passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The manifold has an oil outlet port directed to a remotely mounted oil cooler. The manifold also has a water passage having a configuration that is adapted to match the mounting configuration of the water passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The water passage causes the entirety of the flow of water to be discharged back to the water cooling system of the engine where it is circulated by the water pump through the water cooling passages in the engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2016Publication date: May 25, 2017Inventors: Gene NEAL, Kennieth NEAL

Patent number: 9636733Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming a plurality of elongate members into a helical bundle. The apparatus has a plurality of bending die heads that are mounted in a circular array within a rigid housing. The bending die heads each have a pair of grooved rollers that engage the sides of the tubes to apply a bending force while allowing the tubes to move longitudinally through the bending die stock. The bending die heads can be rotated about their longitudinal axes to impart a helical twist to the tubes as they pass through the bending die stock. The apparatus also has a collet stock assembly, which consists of a collet that has a plurality of apertures equal to the number of tubes in the bundle to be formed. The collet stock is mounted to a housing that is secured to a carriage. The carriage is driven by motor and lead screw to move linearly along a track toward and away from the bending die stock while the collet is rotated at a predetermined speed to form a helical bundle.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2015Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: Neal Technologies IP Holdings, LLCInventors: Kennieth Neal, Eugene Neal, Eric Wilderson, James Cunningham

Patent number: 9517500Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming a plurality of elongate members into a helical bundle in which a pair of bending die assemblies are mounted on a moveable carriage, the moveable carriage itself being supported by a frame. The bending dies each have a plurality of grooved rollers that engage the sides of the tubes to apply a bending force while allowing the tubes to move longitudinally through the die assemblies. The die assemblies can be rotated independent of each other or in unison by means of stepper motors. A collet, attached to the frame, holds the ends of the tubes during the bending operation.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2014Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Inventors: Kennieth Neal, Eugene Neal

Publication number: 20160256964Abstract: An apparatus and method are presented for repairing damage to the boundary wall between an engine coolant passage and a fuel injector bore in a cylinder head. The method involves removing the fuel injector from the fuel injector bore adjoining the damaged boundary wall and inserting a purpose-built sealant injector tool into the fuel injector bore. The sealant injector tool is dimensionally equivalent to the fuel injector in critical regions so that it conforms to the interior surface of the fuel injector bore. Sealant is injected into the sealant injector tool at high pressure until the sealant flows into the crack between the fuel injector bore and the coolant passage after which the sealant injector tool is removed and the fuel injector reinstalled.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2016Publication date: September 8, 2016Inventors: Kennieth Neal, Eugene Neal

Patent number: 9346392Abstract: A mounting adapter for use with E-track modular cargo track comprises a face plate and a jaw member. The jaw member comprises a generally cuboid body with two steps in the front face near each end and a bevel in the back face at each end. The steps and bevel cooperate to enable the jaw member to be inserted through the rectangular opening of the E-track into the narrow confines between the web of the E-track and the side or floor of the cargo bed. Once inserted, the steps center the jaw member vertically within the rectangular opening so that the face plate can be attached without the jaw member dropping into the space behind the E-track. The raised portions of the jaws include female threads adapted to receive a threaded fastener for fastening an object to the E-track while simultaneously capturing the E-track between the jaw and the face plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2015Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Neal Technologies IP Holdings, LLCInventors: Kennieth Neal, Kenneth Kreuter, Jr.

Patent number: 9273572Abstract: An aftermarket modification for diesel engines that operate in cold environments particularly those using a liquid-to-air oil cooler. Engine oil can be routed to a bypass module having a thermostatic element that directs the oil to bypass the oil cooler and return to the engine if the engine oil is below the desired temperature. Once the desired oil temperature is reached, the thermostatic element moves toward a closed position to direct oil through the oil cooler. A pressure bypass element can be incorporated into the bypass module. If the pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of the cooler exceeds a set point, the bypass element moves toward an open position to direct a portion of the oil to bypass the oil cooler.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2014Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Inventors: Kennieth Neal, Eugene Neal

Publication number: 20140352671Abstract: A method of rebuilding a salvaged EGR coolers is disclosed in which the existing heat exchanger elements are removed from the salvaged stock EGR cooler housing and replaced with a heat exchanger element made from a pair of heat exchanger tube sub-assemblies. Each of the heat exchanger tube sub-assemblies includes an end plate with a selected number of attached tubes and a selected number of bores, which are adapted to receive the ends of the tubes attached to the other tube sub-assembly. The tube sub-assemblies are mated together with the free ends of the tubes received into the bores of the opposite end plate. Exhaust fittings are then welded to the ends of the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2014Publication date: December 4, 2014Inventors: Eugene Neal, Kennieth Neal

Patent number: RE45853Abstract: An oil distribution and cooling system for diesel engines of the design represented by the 6.4L POWER STROKEĀ® engine. The stock oil cooler and cover are removed and a manifold is positioned in place of the removed stock oil cooler and cover. The block has oil in, oil out, coolant in and coolant out ports which align with those on the engine. Coolant is directed to an adapter plate and a relocated oil cooler which may be the removed cooler or a replacement, preferably of the oil-to-air type. Oil to be filtered and cooled is directed through the manifold to a filter and then to the cooler. Cool, clean oil is returned to the manifold for distribution to various engine locations.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2015Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: Neal Technologies IP Holdings LLCInventors: Gene Neal, Kennieth Neal
