  • Publication number: 20250327645
Abstract: In one example, a portable shield includes a first cover, a second cover, a panel, a panel retention system, and a weapon support bracket. The second cover is configured to couple to the first cover and thereby from a cavity between the first and second covers. The panel is configured to fit within the cavity and to resist penetration of a weapon-fired projectile having a kinetic energy greater than 500 foot-pounds. The panel retention system is coupled to the first or second shield cover and configured to bear the load of the panel and to hold the panel in a fixed place within the cavity. The weapon support bracket is coupled to the panel retention system and has a bracket arm selectively moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The extended position extends the bracket arm beyond respective edges of the first and second shield covers. The bracket arm provides a surface configured to support the forend portion of a firearm.

  • Publication number: 20250257983
Abstract: In one example, a portable shield includes a first cover, a second cover, a panel, and a retention system. The second cover is configured to couple to the first cover and thereby from an enclosed cavity between the first and second covers. The panel is configured to fit entirely within the enclosed cavity and to prevent penetration of a projectile having a kinetic energy greater than 500 foot-pounds. The retention system is configured to bear the load of the panel and to hold the panel in a fixed place within the enclosed cavity.

  • Publication number: 20120007937
Abstract: A multi-purpose armored vehicle is configured for a wide range of purposes by military and police units and in both defensive and offensive postures. A protective canopy covers an entrance to a cockpit capable of accommodating at least one person. The vehicle is sufficiently narrow to enable it to pass through conventional gates and also doorways to, and within buildings. A pair of armor-plated shields are pivotally engaged, and selectively positionable, with the sides of the vehicle, allowing shelter to personnel traveling alongside the vehicle. An extensible boom may be fitted with a wide range of hardware including weapons and communications equipment for dealing with situations involving criminals, terrorists, etc. The shields, boom movement and extension, and hardware are all controllable from the cockpit.

  • Publication number: 20070199400
Abstract: A breakaway control lever apparatus has a lever arm providing an aperture. A separable load-transmitting element provides a first portion engaging the lever arm aperture and extending therefrom in rotational engagement with a shaft. A fixture provides a clamping portion, a cable engaging portion and a further portion engaging the load-transmitting element and the shaft. A cable provides a cable termination engaging the lever arm aperture and a groove in the first portion of the load-transmitting element thereby securing the load-transmitting element within the lever arm. Upon receiving an impact, the load-transmitting element will tend to fracture before the lever arm.
