  • Patent number: 5833278
Abstract: A multiple flare-type compression fitting comprises a body member having a plurality of axially extending hollow nipples positioned adjacent one end (or both ends). One or more passageways within the body member communicate with the passageways in the nipples. A compression disk has cooperating stepped passageways with the enlarged sections arranged to surround the outer wall of an associated nipple with a flexible tube extending thereover, with the narrow sections accommodating the passage of the flexible tubes therethrough. The junction between the enlarged and narrow sections of each disk passageway form a relatively sharp corner for compressing a tube against the associated nipple when the disk is seated against the body member. The compression disk is rotatably carried by a nut which engages external threads on the body member so that when the nut is tightened the compression disk is in a seated position to secure the tubes in place.

  • Patent number: 5382151
Abstract: A cold form flaring tool that includes first and second mandrel tips each having the shape of a half conical frustum that includes a base with a base radius and a narrow end with a radius that is less than the base radius. The first and second mandrel tips together form a conical frustum when in a closed position and are insertable in a tubing end when in the closed position. The first and second mandrel tips are expanded outwardly away from each other by pivotally interconnected levers which support the mandrel tips in such a manner that the respective narrow ends of the mandrel tips move outwardly at a greater rate than their respective bases, which retains the mandrel tips in the tubing end while being expanded.

  • Patent number: 4792374
Abstract: Apparatus for butt-end joining two pieces of plastic pipe including an inflatable mandrel and heated clamping means for enclosing the abutted pipe ends over a first and second connection ends over the thermally controlled region which extends bilaterally beyond the melt region. This end-surrounding apparatus then cooperates both with a companion apparatus employed for the described internal support and with the unmelted longitudinally adjacent portions of the subject first and second connection ends both to prevent undesired deformational flow of melted component material and to bonding-conducively pressurize the softened component-to-component interface area.
