    Abstract: An example apparatus includes a terminal block couplable to an electronics cabinet or mounting rail. The terminal block defines a first receptacle to receive a first circuit and a second receptacle to receive a second circuit. The terminal block includes an integral relay. The integral relay includes a first contact and a second contact. The first and second contacts are externally accessible relative to the terminal block. The integral relay further includes a first switch and a second switch. The first and second switches are electrically coupled between the first and second contacts. The first and second switches are respectively movable between corresponding open and closed positions. The first and second switches are independently testable to verify the respective operability of the first switch and the second switch.

The example apparatus also includes a second processor to control the third switch, and a second diagnostics controller to control the third and fourth gates.

The wearable computer also executes a voice recognition routine that processes a received voice signal to automatically identify user inputs such as commands, process control devices within the field of view of the wearer, device tags, etc. and uses the user inputs to change a display, to alter a process signal, to retrieve device information etc.

The process controllers can access the I/O cards in a similar manner to I/O cards used to connect to field devices. In this manner, the physical hardware and software architecture does not need to be modified for inter-controller communications. Inter-controller communications can be programmed as general I/O communication.
