  • Patent number: 7270631
Abstract: A method of tucking a pair of side panels into a body portion of a pant-like garment in which the fold locations can be controlled. The garment is positioned between an upper vacuum conveyor and a lower vacuum conveyor. Opposing vacuum zones from the upper and lower conveyors hold a front region of the garment away from a back region of the garment. While the garment is in the opened, or pulled apart, position, the side panels are pushed between the front and back regions toward one another.

  • Patent number: 7047852
Abstract: A process for providing feedforward control to control the feed rate of an elastic material. The process involves measuring the distance between registration marks on the elastic material prior to cut-off. These measurements are compared to a target cut length. The feed rate of a feed roll is adjusted, based on the target cut length and the distance between the registration marks, to maintain the cut length of the elastic material at the target cut length.

  • Patent number: 7004053
Abstract: A closed-loop system can maintain a pre-set cut length of a material as the material is cut and placed on a web. The system has the ability to measure the actual cut length, compare the average actual cut length to a target cut length, and to adjust web tension or feed roll speed to achieve the target cut length. Actual cut length variation is thereby reduced. Furthermore, short term cut length variation is further reduced by minimizing the tension of the web just prior to the material being cut.

  • Patent number: 6776316
Abstract: A method of tucking a pair of refastenable side seams into a body portion of a pant-like garment in which the fold locations can be controlled and the likelihood of creases occurring in the fastening components is reduced or eliminated. The garment is positioned either on one vacuum conveyor or between an upper vacuum conveyor and a lower vacuum conveyor. Vacuum zones from the conveyors hold the garment in place. While the garment is held by the vacuum zones, the refastenable side seams are pushed between the front and back regions toward one another with the fastening components being placed in a flat configuration.

  • Patent number: 6773527
Abstract: A method for ultrasonically bonding thermoplastic materials, for example melt-compatible thermoplastic materials, wherein the thermoplastic materials are preheated prior to entering an ultrasonic bonding means, thereby substantially increasing an ultimate bond strength established between the materials during the ultrasonic bonding process.

  • Publication number: 20030113507
Abstract: A wrapped absorbent structure that includes two or more absorbent materials to maximize the absorbent functionality of the structure without sacrificing integrity. The structure includes an absorbent core surrounded by an absorbent wrap. The absorbent core is primarily intended to provide absorbent capacity while the absorbent wrap is used to maintain wetness integrity, although the absorbent wrap also provides a considerable amount of absorbent capacity. The absorbent structure is particularly suitable for use in absorbent swimwear.

  • Publication number: 20030062120
Abstract: A method of tucking a pair of side panels into a body portion of a pant-like garment in which the tucking distance can be controlled. The garment is positioned between a pair of consecutive stacker finger units. Vacuum applied through fingers on the stacker finger units holds the garment in place. A distance between the pair of stacker finger units is increased to open the garment. While the garment is in an open position, either a mechanical device or fluid streams can be used to tuck the side panels into the body portion of the garment.
