  • Patent number: 6033006
Abstract: In a fuel system of a vehicle a filler end of a fuel pipe is attached to the bodywork of the vehicle and accessible via filler opening in the side of the bodywork. The filler end is fastened to a bodywork element situated inside the side of the bodywork, which bodywork element supports a shield arranged around the filler end, which shield finishes at a certain distance from the side of the bodywork and during collisions protects a filler cap mounted on the fuel pipe.

  • Patent number: 5810426
Abstract: An arrangement for absorbing collision energy in a vehicle, preferably a passenger car, incorporating a framework and a forward portion with a wheel housing (24) on each side. A first elongated force-transmitting device (2) with a first end portion (2a), a second end portion (2b) and an intermediate portion (2c) which is arranged between these latter. The first end portion (2a) is connected to the framework and the second end portion (2b)is connected to a bumper element at the forward end of the vehicle. The intermediate portion (2c) extends past the pertinent wheel housing (24). The second end portion (2b) is at the same time designed with a greater width than the intermediate portion (2c) and covers the greater part of the width of the vehicle wheel arranged in the wheel housing (24).

  • Patent number: 5653495
Abstract: An extra U-shaped pressed plate profile (20) is arranged at the connection (13) between the A-pillar (3) and sill (5), inside a closed hollow beam running around the door aperture, which plate profile runs from the front lateral wall of the A-pillar obliquely rearwards to the lower lateral wall of the sill beam, thereby providing a double wall with spaced plates (26, 27). The double wall enables a local plastic deformation zone to be provided for impact of the wheel against the door aperture frame, and enables the wheel to be locked so that it does not migrate up the A-pillar, thereby providing controlled deformation and absorption of crash forces without the entire door aperture frame collapsing. The rear plate (27) forms a secondary closed hollow beam inside the door aperture frame which, during the deformation of the front plate (26), retains a closed stable door aperture frame with adjoining sections of the A-pillar (3) and sill (5).

  • Patent number: 5498044
Abstract: A motor vehicle bumper for energy absorption. A support part of the bumper is supportable on the vehicle and is generally U-shaped with horizontally extending arms. A cover supported on the support includes respective wall sections that extend in from the top and bottom of the cover and cooperate with vertically outwardly extending flanges on the legs of the U. The wall sections of the cover are simply locked to the flanges of the support. A body of energy absorbing material is disposed in the cover and in the support and is pressed against the wall sections of the cover upon deformation of the cover by application of more than a predetermined force to press the energy absorbing material against the cover wall sections to prevent those wall sections from separating from the flanges of the legs of the U-shaped support in the event of collision or application of more than a predetermined force to the cover of the bumper.

  • Patent number: 5244248
Abstract: A front part for a motor vehicle, consisting of two side beams, two central beams and a subframe, in which front part there are also included struts connecting the side beams to the central beams as well as the central beams to beams forming part of the subframe. The front part in this manner allows a three-way force division through the struts. Very good stability and energy absorption in the event of collisions are thus obtained.
