  • Publication number: 20050233141
Abstract: The optical disc of the present invention includes a first translucent substrate having generally planar opposed top and bottom surfaces. The bottom surface is smooth and adapted to an optical beam for accessing data on the disc. The top surface of the first substrate has formed pits that represent data recorded on the disc or alternatively has a photo-reactive chemical formed thereon. A reflective coating is formed on the top data surface or photo-reactive chemical surface of said first substrate to enable the top surface to reflect light back to an optical reader. A bonding agent is disposed over the reflective coating and a second substrate is bonded to the first substrate though hot melt bonding or UV bonding. The second translucent substrate has a top surface incorporating a plurality of lenticules formed therein, and a bottom surface having an interlaced segmented lenticular image printed thereon.

  • Publication number: 20030120784
Abstract: A method and apparatus for remote access of personal data using a remote device. The personal data is stored on a storage medium in a personal device. The personal data may include personal information of a user of the remote device, or the personal data may be that of another user who intends to share their personal data with the user. The personal device is uniquely associated with the user and may be configured to allow multiple users to access the device. User identification data is received from the remote device. The user is authenticated, using the user identification data received from the remote device, as the user with whom the personal device is associated, either uniquely or through configuration of sharing. When the user is authenticated, menu data is sent to the remote device. The menu data includes a list of personal data management applications on the personal device associated with the user. Selection data is received from the remote device.

  • Publication number: 20030113713
Abstract: Multiplexed test measurements are conducted using an assay module having a plurality of assay domains. In preferred embodiments, these measurements are conducted in assay modules having integrated electrodes with a reader apparatus adapted to receive assay modules, induce luminescence, preferably electrode induced luminescence, in the wells or assay regions of the assay modules and measure the induced luminescence.

  • Publication number: 20020126676
Abstract: The combination of narrowband applications with broadband transport may be enabled with a tri-level nodal architecture including a call control node having switching intelligence and narrowband switching fabric, at least one connection control node having broadband switching fabric and an intermediate node for interworking between the call control node and the connection control node. The call control node further includes a load distribution function for distributing the load amongst a plurality of call processors within the intermediate node. In certain embodiments, the load distribution function assigns the call processors on a per call basis. The assigned call processor is used for encoding all messages transmitted from the call control node to a selected connection control node for the call.

  • Publication number: 20020091968
Abstract: A system for automated testing of an graphical user interface (GUI) of a software application includes creating a test file of a plurality of test steps in a text file format. The test file may be created using any variety of text editor. The test file is used as input to a test harness. In execution, the test harness opens the test file and begins using each line of the test file as a test step. The test harness is configured to execute one of a plurality of automated tests in response to each line of test steps. Each automated test is configured to test a corresponding physical user interface element of the program through a GUI map. The GUI map is configured to define a logical name for each physical user interface element of the software application.

  • Patent number: 6050435
Abstract: A self-sealing, tamper-evident closure including a cap body and an integrally-formed gasket valve is provided for use on a container. The cap body includes a tab integrally molded onto a removable frangible portion which breaks away from the cap body and exposes a self-sealing, flexible gasket valve. The gasket valve is molded in place on an inner surface of the cap body and includes a longitudinal slit to provide a dispensing orifice. A method for making a closure of the present invention is also disclosed, wherein an integral cap body is formed by injection molding, a quantity of liquid gasket material is deposited within a pocket formed on the cap body, a flexible gasket valve is formed by the liquid gasket valve material curing in place within the pocket and a longitudinal slit is imposed through the gasket valve to provide a dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: 5537533
Abstract: A system for remote mirroring of digital data from a primary network server to a remote network server includes a primary data transfer unit and a remote data transfer unit which are connectable with one another by a conventional communication link. The primary data transfer unit sends mirrored data from the primary network server over the link to the remote data transfer unit which is located a safe distance away. Each data transfer unit includes a server interface and a link interface. The server interface is viewed by the network operating system as another disk drive controller. The link interface includes four interconnected parallel processors which perform read and write processes in parallel. The link interface also includes a channel service unit which may be tailored to commercial communications links such as T1, E1, or analog telephone lines connected by modems.

  • Patent number: 5428357
Abstract: A high speed data acquisition system which acquires an analog signal, converts it to digital data, and compresses the large volume of accumulated data into a format that can be handled in a microcomputer environment. The data acquisition system of the present invention can rapidly and continuously acquire and process large volumes of data. Included is an averaging circuit which allows the present invention to efficiently process and store large amounts of data uninterruptedly. The present invention is thus well suited for applications that require uninterrupted high-speed sampling over long periods of time.

  • Patent number: 5303064
Abstract: A calibrated scanner is disclosed. The calibrated scanner includes a sensor board with a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) having two output signals. The sensor board also includes two offset devices, a coarse offset and a fine offset, the coarse offset being connected to the two output signals, the fine offset being connected to one of the output signals. The offsets are adjusted to provide a nonclipping DC bias for the two output signals. The sensor board also includes two gain devices, one gain device being attached to each output signal. The gain devices are adjusted to balance the two output signals. After these adjustments, the saturation level of the CCD is determined. The saturation level information is then used in readjusting the gain and offset devices. After this calibration, a linear correction may be applied to the output signal of the sensor board. The linear correction is accomplished by determining dark and light values of the sensor board.
