  • Patent number: 5265356
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a hydraulic-piston-lifted snowplow adapted to scrape a surface (e.g., a snowplow for scraping snow and ice off pavements) is shown. To save unnecessary wear on the snowplow blade, the system can be operated to allow less than the full weight of the moldboard and blade to rest on the surface being scraped. In the operation of the plow, a fraction of the moldboard and blade weight selected, the magnitude of an instantaneous deviation therefrom is measured and converted into an electrical signal, and a servo-operated control valve is actuated in response to said signal for bypassing more or less hydraulic fluid away from piston in connection of the hydraulic lift given the moldboard and blade by the piston.

  • Patent number: 4899472
Abstract: Guards, usually used in pairs as replaceable attachments to snow plow blade, are shown. At least one of the pair consists essentially of a panel portion with an integral curb feeler extending therefrom and supported thereby that sweeps around a blade end and reaches rearwardly; the curb feeler extension on its mate is optional. The guards comprise deformable polymer. Advantageously the polymer is laminated with a lamina of a hard metal such as steel that is fitted with an especially abrasion-resistant bottom edge. An assembly of the laminae typically is held together with bolts to the plow, and the laminae can be adhesively bonded together also, if desired.

  • Patent number: 4833801
Abstract: Guards for replaceable attachment to a snow plow blade near the outer ends of its cutting edge are shown. Each guard has a panel portion conforming generally to these outer ends; that portion is of a hard, impact resisting metal of high shear strength, and it has a lower margin running for at least that part of its length that extends with the cutting edge of the blade. The exterior end of at least one of the guards projects around the end of the cutting edge as a curb feeler. Also shown is a snow plow with a moldboard having an expendable cutting edge along its bottom, and attached to each end of the cutting edge, a guard of the above-described sort.
