  • Patent number: 11580856
Abstract: A device can receive parking metadata that includes location data indicating that a portion of a vehicle is located outside of a designated parking area (DPA). The device can process the parking metadata to identify values that are to be used when determining actions to perform. The device can obtain supplemental events data associated with events occurring near the DPA. The device can determine the actions to perform based on the parking metadata and the supplemental events data. The device can provide, as one of the actions and to one or more other devices or to the vehicle, a message indicating that the portion of the vehicle is located outside of the DPA. This can cause the one or more other devices or the vehicle to: move the vehicle from the DPA, reposition the vehicle within the DPA, or penalize an owner of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11451437
Abstract: A system may provision a smart device to allow the smart device to communicate using a network and use at least one service of a management platform. A device identifier of the smart device may be stored in a data store accessible to the management platform. The smart device may send a message to the management platform that includes the device identifier, and in some implementations other information such as location information. The management platform may determine that the smart device has been provisioned, for example based on the device identifier or other information, and provide a service to the smart device from the management platform.

  • Patent number: 10863606
Abstract: A server device can periodically obtain information concerning illuminance of ambient light from light sensors associated with light sources, and can obtain respective brightness level values associated with respective brightness levels of the light sources. The server device can calculate an illuminance value associated with the illuminance of the ambient light based on the information, determine an adjusted brightness level value for the light sources based on the illuminance value, and determine transition times and transition rates based on the respective brightness level values and the adjusted brightness level value. The server device can cause the respective brightness levels to change according to the adjusted brightness level value, the transition times, and the transition rates, where the transition times and the transition rates are to be used to transition the respective brightness levels of the light sources from the respective brightness level values to the adjusted brightness level value.

  • Patent number: 7113698
Abstract: A system for detecting faults in an optical network having switching nodes and amplifier nodes is provided. According to one aspect of the system, one or more amplifier nodes are coupled between two switching nodes. Each amplifier node is capable of detecting a fault condition, such as a loss-of-signal (LOS) condition, on an incoming line. Upon detecting the LOS condition, the amplifier node generates a fault report which is then forwarded to a switching node. The switching node uses information from the fault report to initiate switching actions, if any, to restore traffic. According to another aspect of the system, each amplifier node is configured to receive a fault report received from another amplifier node and forward such fault report to a switching node. Each amplifier node is further configured to prioritize a fault condition identified in a fault report received from another amplifier node and the fault condition detected on its incoming line.

  • Patent number: 6999686
Abstract: A system for managing signals in an optical network is provided. When a signal is originated by a source node for transmission to a destination node, the source node generates a message. Upon receiving this message, the destination node responds by sending an acknowledgment. Intermediate nodes examine these messages, allowing the nodes to obtain information which is used to take appropriate actions. A node is able to detect a switching event and the output power levels of signals leaving the node are maintained at a predetermined level. When transmission components transmitting a signal are powered up, a sequence of messages is exchanged, allowing the nodes to activate their transmission components in a sequential manner, avoiding signal level interference. Another sequence of messages is exchanged during protection line switching, allowing the nodes to adjust their respective transmission components in a sequential manner so as to avoid a “ringing” effect.

  • Patent number: 6904542
Abstract: System for providing distributed group-based protection switching at a network element in a communication network. The communication network includes a plurality of interconnected network elements, and wherein the network element includes first and second card logic coupled to the communication network to transmit and receive network traffic. The system comprises selector logic distributed between the first and second card logic that includes first and second switching engines that have associated activity states that indicate how the network traffic is routed at the network element. The switching engines generate new activity states based on selected fault indicators. A processing system operates to detect fault conditions, generate the selected fault indicators, and receive the new activity states from the switching engines to perform one or more switch reconfigurations at the network element based on the new activity states, and thereby implement the distributed group-based protection switching.

  • Patent number: 6839858
Abstract: A timing circuit for use with transport logic in a network element is provided. The network element forms part of a data network and the timing circuit includes a timing receiver having a timing input, a timing output, and a selection input, the timing receiver operable to receive one or more timing signals at the timing input and to select a selected timing signal for distribution to the transport logic via the timing output based on a selection signal received at the selection input. The timing circuit also includes a determination circuit that is operable to determine whether the timing circuit is one of a master timing circuit and slave timing circuit, and based on the determination, produce the selection signal. A sync transmitter is also included in the timing circuit. The sync transmitter is coupled to the timing output, the determination circuit, and a communication channel.
