The augmented reality application determines a sub-set of the points plotted that correspond to a region of the physical object visible in an image of the region of the physical object acquired by the portable computing device at a position of the portable computing device, where the sub-set of the points exclude nonconformance locations occluded from view by a physical object structure of the physical object in the image. The augmented reality application displays the nonconformance data for the sub-set of the points visible in the image in association with a sub-set of the nonconformance locations for the physical object in the image displayed on a display system in the portable computing device.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a visual aid in assembling an aircraft. A display for a portion of an aircraft is displayed on a display system in a mobile data processing system. The display on the display system comprises an image of the portion of the aircraft and hot spots over areas of the image. The hot spots correspond to installation plans for the areas over which the hot spots are located and the hot spots are selectable by user input. Information is displayed on the display system in the mobile data processing system about the installation plan for an area in the areas when a hot spot in the hot spots corresponding to the area is selected by the user input. The display of the information on the display system provides a visual aid that enables performance of an assembly operation in the area selected.

    Abstract: An improved corner bending apparatus and method for a bent head exchanger includes a first step of providing a tube edge clearance to at least the inner core face edges of those few tubes encompassed by the area of the core to be bent. A series of elongated braces, able to flex relative to one another, is placed into the tube edge clearance prior to bending. The braces actively maintain the tube edges (and tubes) in a parallel, undeformed orientation during the bend, which may be done by otherwise conventional apparatus.
