  • Patent number: 10453240
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention facilitate displaying and animating sectioned content that retains fidelity across desktop and mobile devices. An animation timeline is identified for an article comprising one or more sections. The animation timeline enables the article to appear to a user as a webpage. When a user manipulates the viewport, the animation timeline manages content movement in and out of the viewport. For articles comprising more than one section, an internal timeline may be created for each section and initialized when each article starts to enter the viewport. As articles are loaded into memory, they become visible in the viewport and behaviors may be attached to each section. In this way, memory is preserved and the document can be rendered in full fidelity across any device.

  • Patent number: 10392232
Abstract: A pipe lifter for carrying one or more pipes including a slidably extendable elongate member and two sets of two laterally extending arms on each side of the elongate member. Each set of the two laterally extending arms are opposed to each other. Each of the laterally extending arms is pivotally fixed to the elongate member and moveable between a folded position where the arm is adjacent and parallel with the elongate member and an operational position where the arm extends laterally substantially at ninety degrees with respect to the elongate member. There are two or more L-shaped support members attachable to the laterally extending arms. There is also a hydraulic or pneumatic ram operationally configured to extend and shorten the length of the elongate member.

  • Publication number: 20080032291
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for determining haplotypes useful for large-scale genetic analysis, within a genomic reference sequence of interest, for a human subpopulation. The method can applied to statistically evaluating the genotypes of subjects for any statistically significant association with a phenotype of interest, such as insulin resistance or coronary artery disease. Thus, also disclosed are a method of detecting a genetic predisposition in a human subject for certain biological conditions, which may be related to coronary artery disease.

  • Patent number: 6798417
Abstract: A method for rendering graphics on a server. In a preferred embodiment, a server receives a request from a requesting device for graphics. The server determines the fastest available rendering resource and dispatches the request to this fastest available rendering resource. Once the graphics have been rendered, the server sends the graphics to the requesting device for presentation to a user.

  • Patent number: 6507341
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a data processing system for generating a two dimensional display of a three dimensional object. Data is received representing the three dimensional object. Back-face culling is performed using a data structure, wherein the data structure includes a set of predetermined visibility data derived from the results of dot products of normal vectors with eye vectors. The two dimensional display of the three dimensional object is generated using results of the back-face culling.

  • Patent number: 6191800
Abstract: A method of generating graphic images on a display device of a computer system, by dividing the viewable area of the display device into a plurality of tiles, assigning each of the tiles to respective rendering processes, rendering a frame on the display device using the rendering processes, and adjusting the sizes of the tiles in response to the rendering step. The method then uses the adjusted tile sizes to render the next frame. The tile areas are preferably constrained from becoming too small. The adjusted tile sizes may optionally be smoothed, such as by averaging in weighted sizes from previous frames. The tile sizes are adjusted by measuring the rendering times required for each rendering process to complete a respective portion of the frame, and then resizing the tiles based on the measured rendering times.

  • Patent number: 6183951
Abstract: The present invention provides methods based on serological and genetic markers for diagnosing clinical subtypes of Crohn's disease (CD) having characteristic responsiveness to anti-Th1 cytokine therapy. In the methods of the inventions the presence of perinuclear anti-neutrophil antibody (pANCA), the presence of the TNFa10b4c1d3e3 haplotype or the presence TNFa11b4c1d3e3 haplotype each are independently diagnostic of a clinical subtype of CD having an inferior clinical response to anti-Th1 cytokine therapy. In addition, the presence of the homozygous TNF-&bgr; 1111 haplotype involving the TNFc, aa13L, aa26 and NcoI loci is independently diagnostic of a clinical subtype of CD having an inferior clinical response to anti-Th1 cytokine therapy. The presence of speckling anti-pan polymorphonuclear antibody (SAPPA) is diagnostic of a clinical subtype of CD having a superior clinical response to anti-Th1 cytokine therapy.

  • Patent number: 4472188
Abstract: A composition for the defoliation of plants, particularly cotton plants, containing synergistic mixtures of 1-phenyl-3-(1,2,3-thiadiazol)-urea with O,O-dimethyl-O-(p-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphoric acid ester or O,O-diethyl-O-(p-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphoric acid ester in weight ratios from 1 part by weight 1-phenyl-3-(1,2,3-thiadiazol)-urea to 0.2 to 1000 parts by weight O,O-dimethyl-O-(p-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphoric acid ester or O,O-diethyl-O-(p-nitrophenyl)-thiophosphoric acid ester. With use of the composition the plants are not only advantageously defoliated, but also simultaneously freed of harmful insects.

  • Patent number: 4030123
Abstract: A system for playing back prerecorded signals from a spirally-grooved and rotatable record includes a carriage mounted for lateral motion relative to a motorboard of the system in correlation with lateral motion of a groove-riding stylus during playback. A stylus arm cartridge, enclosing a stylus arm supporting a stylus at one end thereof, is subject to reception in a compartment provided in the carriage. The second end of the stylus arm is pivoted in the cartridge. A first end of a leaf spring, provided for urging the stylus into the record groove during playback, is secured to the stylus. A second end of the leaf spring is secured to a ball which is friction loaded into a socket provided in the cartridge. Adjustment of angular orientation of the ball in the socket provides control of the stylus/record tracking pressure, and the lateral position of the stylus arm in the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 3997716
Abstract: In a system for playing back prerecorded signals from a spirally-grooved disc record by a groove-engaging signal pickup secured to a pickup arm when relative speed is established therebetween, a locked groove escape apparatus is provided. A transducer varies the position of the signal pickup in relation to the groove in a manner that opposes deviations of the relative speed from a predetermined speed. A carriage housing the pickup arm is mounted on the player base for movement between a playback mode and a standby mode. The carriage is driven radially inward in synchronization with rotation of the disc record during playback independent of radial motion of the signal pickup due to the spiral groove. A locked groove detector coupled to the transducer generates a locked groove recognition pulse when the signal pickup encounters a locked groove.

  • Patent number: 3956581
Abstract: A conductive pickup arm has a first portion and a further portion. One end of the pickup arm first portion is secured to a player supporting structure by a pickup arm support. During playback, (1) the pickup arm first portion is substantially parallel to the turntable surface of the player, and (2) an end of the further portion remote from the pickup arm supported end is disposed near the turntable surface relative to the first portion. A nonconductive signal pickup holder carrying a signal pickup is pivoted to the further portion remote end by a nonconductive signal pickup holder support in a manner that normally disposes the holder axis substantially parallel to the turntable surface. An electrode incorporated in the signal pickup is coupled via the conductive pickup arm to a signal processing circuitry of the player.
