    Abstract: Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material which comprises a monodispersed polymer having an average grain size of from 1 to 10 .mu.m and variation coefficient of 0.10 or less and having a functional group which forms a covalent bond by reacting with an organic hardening agent or gelatin. Preferably, the polymer is a polymer obtained by polymerization by adding to a hydrophilic organic solution a high molecular weight dispersant which is dissolved in the hydrophilic organic solution and further adding at least one vinyl monomer which is dissolved in the hydrophilic organic solution but the polymer to be formed is precipitated from the hydrophilic organic solution. More preferably, the polymer contains 60 wt % or more of the repeating unit derived from methyl methacrylate and has a glass transition point of 60.degree. C. or more.

    Abstract: An aqueous dispersion of core/shell type composite particles having colloidal silica as the cores and having an organic polymer as the shells is disclosed, comprising an aqueous dispersion of particles obtained by carring out a reaction operation of coupling reacting (a) colloidal silica and (b) an organoalkoxysilane in an aqueous medium in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer and thereafter polymerizing the coupling reaction product and (c) a vinyl monomer having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group, and further a method for producing the aqueous dispersion is disclosed.The aqueous dispersion has a good dispersion stability, by-produces less polymer sole particles, and a high coating degree of a polymer on the surfaces of the silica particles.

The polymer is excellent in dispersion stability in coating solutions, prevents settling and agglomeratingis and the formation of mat pinholes, and can improve granularity of images.

    Abstract: A diffusion transfer photographic film unit comprising a support having thereon outwardly from said support (a) a dye image receiving layer; (b) a first peeling layer containing a copolymer of at least (i) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing at least one hydrocarbon group containing from 7 to 18 carbon atoms, and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, the homopolymer of which is soluble in water or an aqueous alkaline solution; (c) a second peeling layer containing a cellulose ester; and (d) a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a light-sensitive silver halide and a dye image forming substance. The diffusion transfer photograph produced using the unit of the invention has stable peeling properties, is not sticky, and is excellent in scratch resistance.
