  • Patent number: 7845990
Abstract: An enclosed connection system for connecting first and second elongate electrical conductors includes a transverse wedge connector and an enclosure. The transverse wedge connector includes an electrically conductive first connector member, an electrically conductive second connector member, and a clamping mechanism. The first connector member includes: a first body having inner and outer opposed ends; a first hook portion on the outer end of the first body, the first hook portion defining a first channel to receive the first conductor; and a first abutment portion on the inner end of the first body. The second connector member includes: a second body having inner and outer opposed ends; a second hook portion on the outer end of the second body, the second hook portion defining a second channel to receive the second conductor; and a second abutment portion on the inner end of the second body.

  • Patent number: 7297869
Abstract: A cover for a distribution line conductor includes a cover body defining a channel extending along a lengthwise axis and adapted to receive the conductor. A unitarily formed attachment structure adjoins the cover body. The attachment structure includes first and second jaws positioned adjacent the channel. The first and second jaws are positioned at different locations along a jaw axis parallel to the lengthwise axis and, in a closed position, overlap one another across the jaw axis. The first and second jaws are relatively deflectable from the closed position to an open position to permit passage of the conductor therebetween and into the channel and the first and second jaws can thereafter return toward the closed position to secure the conductor in the channel.

  • Patent number: 5997186
Abstract: An in-line splice closure for splicing two hybrid fiber and signal conductor cables includes an outer housing having opposing first and second ends for receiving respective ends of the cables. An organizer tube extends within the outer housing. Electrical connectors are positioned within the organizer tube for connecting signal conductors of the first and second hybrid cables. The splice closure preferably includes at least one optical splice for connecting optical fibers of the first and second cables, and an optical fiber support wrapped around an outer surface of the organizer tube for supporting the at least one optical splice and adjacent optical fiber slack portions. The organizer tube preferably has a predetermined diameter and the optical fiber support preferably supports the optical fiber slack portions so as not to exceed the minimum bend radius. The organizer tube preferably has a longitudinally extending groove in an outer surface portion for receiving buffer tubes of the cables.
