  • Patent number: 5585177
Abstract: A triple layered thermoplastic resin laminated metal sheet for a can stock having excellent flavor retention of packed foods and drinks, excellent formability, excellent adhesion of the thus laminated resin layer to a metal sheet and excellent denting resistance, particularly excellent denting resistance at a low temperature, which comprises formation of a triple layered thermoplastic resin layer wherein a polycarbonate resin layer is sandwiched between polyester resin outer and inner layers on one or both sides of a metal sheet covered with a single layer of hydrated chromium oxide or a double layer consisting of an upper layer of hydrated chromium oxide and a lower layer of metallic chromium by using conventional film laminating, extrusion coating or the combination of these techniques.

  • Patent number: 5179854
Abstract: In a process for the production of a draw-ironed can, supposing that at the draw-ironing step, the blank thickness is A, the maximum thickness of the side wall of a cup-shaped body obtained by draw working of the first stage is B and the maximum thickness of the side wall of a cup-shaped body obtained by redraw working of the second stage is C, the increase of thickness B is controlled to up to 20% of thickness A and the increase of thickness C is controlled to up to 30% of thickness A, and supposing that the final thickness of the side wall of the draw-ironed can finally obtained by ironing working is D, the thickness reduction ratio of the side wall of the obtained draw-ironed can satisfies the following requirements:(B-D)/B.times.100.ltoreq.70%,and(C-D)/C.times.100.ltoreq.70%.According to this process, the surface roughness of the final can body is improved, barrel breaking is prevented at the ironing step, and a draw-ironed can having improved necking workability and flanging workability is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5094924
Abstract: A polyester resin film laminated steel sheet for a drawn and ironed can which comprises laminating a copolyester resin film prepared by processing according to a known method on the one side of a steel sheet covered with at least hydrated chromium oxide to be employed for the inside of the drawn and ironed can and plating tin on the other side of the steel sheet to be employed for the outside of the drawn and ironed can.By using this polyester resin film laminated steel sheet, a drawn and ironed can having an excellent corrosion resistance with respect to the packed contents such as carbonated beverages and fruit juices is easily produced. Furthermore, this drawn and ironed can can be used without an inner lacquer coating after forming.

  • Patent number: 3983293
Abstract: A metal mold for forming glass articles having a porous lining layer having an excellent heat-insulating property and the abrasion resistance at high temperature, porous lining layer being so designed that a suitable amount of water can be contained therein. As the lining material, there are used materials having an excellent heat-insulating property, such as hollow glass powder and diatomaceous earth, and materials having excellent abrasion resistance, such as metal powder and ceramic powder. Mainly a heat-resistant polymeric adhesive is used for lining such material on a metal mold.
