Patent number: 5796201Abstract: In a rotor of an AC generator for a vehicle, a coil bobbin, around which rotor coil is wound, includes a bobbin body having a first through hole at a winding drum portion and is made of hard resin. A first hole member is kept at the first through hole and is made of good thermal conductivity rubber. An outer peripheral layer is formed integrally with the first hole member and is made of good thermal conductivity rubber covering the outer peripheral surface of the winding drum portion. An improved rotor of an AC generator for a vehicle is provided, in which a regular winding property of the rotor coil is improved and at the same time, heat of the rotor coil can be more effectively radiated to the rotor core side so that generator output can be improved.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1996Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignees: Tokai Rubber Industries, Ltd., Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kiyoaki Kamitani, Akiya Shichijyo, Shin Kusase, Kenzo Mitani, Hiroaki Ishikawa

Patent number: 5773906Abstract: A slip ring is made of a carbonaceous material and a brush is made of a metal. A metal connection bar has an insert member held in the carbonaceous slip ring to make a mechanical and electrical connection without the necessity of an additional member. The slip ring and the connection bar are insert-molded in a slip-ring-support made of a resinous material. The slip-ring-support is press-fitted to a rear portion of the rotor so that the slip ring and the connection bar are fixed to the shaft at the same time. Further, the fan unit having a plurality of fan blades and a fan-supporting-portion is molded integrally with the slip-ring-support.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takuzou Mukai, Kenzo Mitani

Patent number: 5744892Abstract: A slip ring unit which comprises self-lubricated carbonaceous rings and a wear resistive brush made of laminated-elastic-copper-alloy-sheets are used to supply a field current to a field coil which is carried by a rotor of an alternator. Therefore, the space for accommodating the brush and slip ring unit of the alternator is made compact and the alternator size can be made small.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takuzou Mukai, Kenzo Mitani

Patent number: 5543703Abstract: A vehicular generator motor performing generator operation and motor operation is disclosed. The generator motor comprises an AC-DC converter means and a switching means. The converter means is composed of a plurality of MOSFETs and connected between each armature coil and a vehicular storage battery. Alternating current produced across the coils is converted into a direct current for charging the battery by the AC-DC converter means in generator operation mode. In motor operation mode, the DC output from the battery is converted into an alternating current for setting up a rotating magnetic field by the converter means, and the battery output is fed to the armature coils. The mode of operation of the MOSFETs is switched between these two modes by the switching means. The rotating field produces a certain phase difference with the magnetic field developed by the rotating magnetic poles. The MOSFETs are made of SiC having a smaller resistivity than that of Si.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1994Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shin Kusase, Kenzo Mitani, Atsushi Umeda, Norihito Tokura, Hirohide Sato

Patent number: 4084119Abstract: A chopper control system for controlling the amount of power supplied from a DC power source to a load having inductance. The chopper control system comprises a chopper circuit for accomplishing the on-off control of main current flowing from a DC power source to a load having inductance, and a duty cycle control circuit for controlling the duty cycle of the chopper circuit. A flywheel circuit including a series-connected circuit of a flywheel diode and a reactor is connected in inverse parallel with the load. The counter electromotive force induced in the flywheel circuit is detected by a detecting circuit and the output of the detecting circuit is applied to the duty cycle control circuit to prevent the main current from exceeding a predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1976Date of Patent: April 11, 1978Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hidetoshi Kato, Masayoshi Niimi, Kenzo Mitani
