  • Patent number: 9100718
Abstract: A computer system in which augmentation content can be provided to a client device. A receiver is provided in a server for receiving a live television signal. A matching engine can then identify a segment of television, based on fingerprinting techniques and can determine a time delay between the start time of the segment of television and its identification. A content retrieval unit can then select augmentation content based on the identified segment of television and the time delay, and this can be output to a client device. In this way the augmentation content can be selected so that it maintains synchronization with live television.

  • Patent number: 9015761
Abstract: A computer system includes a display that displays an electronic program guide to a user. A data storage unit includes keywords related to television shows currently being broadcast. A server device is configured to retrieve real-time data related to a person of interest from the internet by monitoring messages that they generate. The server device can then identify one or more matches between the retrieved data and the stored keywords, and can output a modified electronic program guide including an indication of matching keywords. This can allow an electronic program guide to include an inference of the television show that a person of interest is likely to be watching or talking about online.

  • Patent number: 8121951
Abstract: A system and process for more efficiently clearing checks by transmitting MICR line data together with a URL link to facilitate check clearing via electronic debits by an ACH. The URL link can be used at the option of the paying bank (or other entity) to access images of the check from a database.

  • Patent number: 6524390
Abstract: A handwashing medium which may be in liquid, cream, powder or spray form is provided with a detection agent such as an invisible fluorescent additive, which combination is then rubbed onto one's hands using the individual's handwashing technique and is allowed to dry. The individual's hands are rinsed with water as in the normal handwashing fashion and the hands are then exposed to an activating agent such as an ultraviolet (UV) light source. Areas missed during handwashing retain the fluorescent additive and are clearly visible due to fluorescence. The method is useful in evaluating one's handwashing technique and has applicability anywhere cleanliness is required such as in hospitals, clinics, restaurants, etc., and may be used as an instructional aid in teaching young children proper hygiene techniques.

  • Patent number: 5900067
Abstract: A handwashing medium which may be in liquid, cream, powder or spray form is provided with a detection agent such as an invisible fluorescent or phosphorescent additive, which combination is then rubbed onto one's hands using the individual's handwashing technique. The individual's hands are rinsed with water as in the normal handwashing fashion and the hands are then exposed to an activating agent such as an ultraviolet (UV) light source where the invisible detection agent is fluorescent. Areas missed during handwashing retain the fluorescent additive and are clearly visible due to fluorescence. In the case of a phosphorescent detection agent, an ultraviolet light source is not necessary as the phosphorescent detection agent will emit light on its own without any external light source in a reduced light environment. The method is useful in evaluating one's handwashing technique and in the teaching of proper hygiene.

  • Patent number: 5180289
Abstract: An air-balance control system for a pumping unit minimizes the difference in torque on pumping unit components on the upstroke and the downstroke. The control system measures pump motor current and rod string position to effectuate porting air to or venting air from the air receiver tank in an air-balance system.

  • Patent number: 5060393
Abstract: Apparatus for taking body measurements of a seated person for making individually sized seat and back support cushions includes a foldable frame having a first leg/buttocks rule and a second height rule pivotally coupled together and adapted for positioning adjacent the leg/buttocks and back portions, respectively, of a person positioned thereon. The height rule is moveable along the length of the leg/buttocks rule upon which the person being measured is seated for measuring the distance from the seated person's buttocks to his or her knees. A moveable, generally V-shaped bracket adapted for engaging the person's shoulders is attached to the height rule and allows the person's seat-to-shoulder dimension to be measured. A moveable third rule attached to the leg/buttocks rule and disposed between its knee engaging end and the height rule includes a pair of moveable hip engaging paddles for measuring the person's hip width.
