  • Publication number: 20230392504
Abstract: A hollow fan blade comprises a sheath, an airfoil and a cover. The sheath forms a pressure side wall and has an exterior surface. The airfoil forms a suction side wall and has an exterior surface. There are a plurality of ribs extending between the pressure side wall and the suction side wall, where the plurality of ribs partition the hollow airfoil into one or more cavities. The cover is disposed in the one or more cavities to protect the plurality of ribs. The cavities are filled with a polymeric foam.

  • Patent number: 11739713
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of repairing a rear cone segment erosion coating including removing a portion of an existing fluoroelastomer coating from a rear cone segment to form a repair area; forming a cured replacement erosion coating corresponding to the repair area, wherein the cured replacement erosion coating has a layer of fluoroelastomer and a layer of fibrous reinforcement; preparing the repair area and the cured replacement erosion coating for adhesion; locating the prepared cured replacement erosion coating on the prepared repair area; and adhering the prepared cured replacement erosion coating to the prepared repair area. Also disclosed is a cured replacement erosion coating and a repaired inlet nose cone.

  • Patent number: 11065825
Abstract: A method of sealing a first component to a second component comprising the steps of locating at least one fiber reinforced polyimide resin layer against a first sealing surface on a first component and against a second sealing surface on a second component. At least one fiber reinforced polyimide resin layer is compressed against the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface prior to curing at least one fiber reinforced polyimide resin layer. At least one fiber reinforced polyimide resin layer is heated to promote flow and conformation to the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface. At least one fiber reinforced polyimide resin layer is cured to provide a fluid tight seal between the first component and the second component.
