Abstract: An event log system for capturing event information associated with error events occurring within a computer system. The event log system includes an event log displaying error messages associated with the error events captured within the computer system, and displaying inline error resolution information within each error message corresponding to each respective error event. User community information such as links to wiki topics and forum threads are contextually provided for and inline with individual error log entries. Also, action buttons to help the user resolve errors and problems are also contextually provided, as are surfaced links to domain experts within the user community, such as online chat buttons to them.

Abstract: Non-hierarchical relationship UIs (“topology UIs”) are difficult to scale to hundreds or more items. An embodiment of this invention provides indicators and quick access controls for the nodes in navigation tree that appear more than once in a hierarchy—where a pure hierarchical navigational tree falls short. The navigational tree is structured by grouping all matching nodes together. The display area displays the most frequent and the concatenated labels of the semantically grouped redundant nodes. A set of contextual proximity and similarity information and an exception list are stored in a semantic database which is configurable by system administrators. These navigation area controls and indicators will preemptively handle non-hierarchies directly within the navigation tree.

Abstract: A computer program product, electronic device and method are provided that enable a user to easily view, in a tooltip, all of the entities of a plurality of entities contained in a cell of a table when the width of the cell prevents the cell display from showing all of the entities. In response to a tooltip being opened for a cell of a table, the cell having a plurality of entities, at least a portion of the plurality of entities is displayed in the tooltip. An indicia expressive of a total number of the plurality of entities is also displayed. Alternate embodiments provide navigation aids in the tooltip to assist a user in more conveniently viewing all of the entities.

Abstract: Dynamically selecting which properties to display for a group of resources is provided. A selection of a group of resources is received to be viewed in a graphical user interface. A determination is made as to whether the group of resources is one of a plurality of previously saved groups of resources. Responsive to the group of resources being one of the plurality of previously saved groups of resources, a determination is made as to whether the previously saved group of resources has an associated saved group of properties. Responsive to the previously saved group of resources having the associated saved group of properties, a table is generated that comprises the previously saved group of resources and the associated saved group of properties. The table is then displayed to a user via a graphical user interface.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for collecting software development feedback. In one embodiment, the method includes collecting a user feedback message associated with a software object. The software object may define a portion of an application user interface. The method may also include categorizing the user feedback message according to a feedback categorization criterion. Additionally, the method may include displaying the user feedback message in a display arranged by a category identified by the categorization criterion.

Abstract: This embodiment, a navigation module, includes two unique features to address two long standing usability problems associated with today's current navigation scheme. First, it contains a selector that allows the end-user to change the layout of the navigation area relative to the content area. That is, the user can elect to view the navigation area in a horizontal or vertical layout by selecting the orientation toggle. Second, it provides alternative views to the standard hierarchical tree-structure. By retaining individual end-user usage data, the navigation module provides views where the links are sorted by frequency of use and access date/time.

Abstract: In one embodiment of this invention, one can record and provide answers to users problems. When a user selects a command (e.g., Show Tips) on the user interface (UI), the mouse pointer is changed, so when the user clicks on an aspect of the UI, a web window displays all of the problems that the users have entered on the particular clicked item by querying a forum knowledge base. One embodiment provides capability to expand the search, e.g., to anything the user clicked on recently or items which are related to the selected item.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and program storage device for providing a gauge for displaying data that includes historical-based data. The plurality of different viewing modes provides different views to past data. A data display element is configured to include a dynamic display component. The data display element is used to display data that is current data and data that is based upon historical data. A plurality of different viewing modes for presenting the dynamic display component may be used.

Abstract: One example of this invention is to provide indicators and quick access controls for the nodes in navigation tree that appear more than once in a hierarchy—where a pure hierarchical navigational tree falls short. Abstract: A method is disclosed for aurally indicating progress. In one embodiment, a node count module determines a node threshold. A discovery module searches for a plurality of nodes over a communications channel wherein each node is autonomously connected to the communications channel. In addition, the discovery module receives a reply from a node. The node count module may direct an indicator module to modify an aural indicator in response to the node count exceeding the node threshold. The indicator module further emits the aural indicator.

Abstract: A new network topology visualization integrates out-of-view and topology overview information into the navigational frame bars of the primary topology view to save screen space and make the associated information more tightly bound to the working view area. This way, the user does not need to go back and forth between two disconnected and distinct view areas, and more screen space will be available for conveying useful information.

A topology display module displays a topology view of the selected UIE and a child UIE of the selected UIE. Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for promoting content from one content management system to another content management system. Content from a first content management system satisfying a content criteria is determined. The first content management system includes content objects added by users in a collaborative environment. A second content management system providing content objects associated with content categories is processed to determine one of the content categories relevant to the determined content from the first content management system. The determined content is added to the second content management system and the content added to the second content management system is associated with the determined content category.

Abstract: A method for implementing a software based navigational control interface for organizing and presenting a hierarchical user interface structure, includes: displaying the hierarchical user interface structure on a user device; using the navigational control interface to determine which level of the hierarchical user interface structure appears on the same level as an initial root directory; and wherein based on the setting of the navigational control interface the number of hierarchical user interface structure levels is reduced or expanded.

Abstract: A novel apparatus and method for correcting speech recognized text in a predominantly speech-only environment for use with a device having only a limited or no display device available. The method is preferably implemented by a machine readable storage mechanism having stored thereon a computer program, the method comprising the following steps. First, audio speech input can be received and speech-to-text converted to speech recognized text. Second, a first speech correction command for performing a correction operation on speech recognized text stored in a text buffer can be detected in the speech recognized text. Third, if a speech correction command is not detected in the speech recognized text, the speech recognized text can be added to the text buffer. Fourth, if a speech command is detected in the speech recognized text, the detected correction speech command can be performed on speech recognized text stored in the text buffer.

Abstract: A method of generating language model statistics for a new word added to a language model incorporating at least one class file containing contextually related words. The method can include the following steps: First, language model statistics can be computed based on references to at least one incorporated class file. Second, a new word can be substituted for each reference to a selected class file. Additionally, the language model statistics can be re-computed based on the new word having been substituted for the reference. Third, the re-computed language model statistics can be displayed in a user interface and modifications can be accepted to the re-computed language model statistics through the user interface. Fourth, the language model statistics can be further re-computed based on the modifications. In consequence, the language model statistics are re-computed for the new word without introducing contextual inaccuracies in the language model.

Abstract: The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for incorporating parenthetical expression capability in an interactive tabular query interface, wherein the interactive tabular query interface can be used to search computer resources like computer databases. The methods and apparatus of the present invention permit a user through the medium of a parenthetical-expression-capable tabular query interface both to group at least two logical expressions with a single level of parentheses and to embed parenthetical expressions within multi-level parenthetical expressions. The methods and apparatus of the present invention also permit a user to quickly and easily logically un-combine expressions that have been grouped using a parenthetical expression feature of a tabular query user interface made in accordance with the present invention. Further, the interactive tabular query interface also has a preview window for depicting dynamically a query as it is formulated.
