    Abstract: Light-transmitting and light-directing shields, panels or lenses for supplying illumination to a locus remote from the heat and electricity of the light source. The present illuminating devices are assemblies of transparent waveguide panels or sheets and optical fibers associated with a remote light source. The waveguide is provided with a plurality of internal mirror surfaces which reflect light out of the plane of the waveguide and direct it in a predetermined direction for illumination purposes.
