  • Publication number: 20230072856
Abstract: A communication system for performing DRX-aware channel resource allocation is described. The communication system includes a plurality of radio points (RPs), each configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with a plurality of user equipment (UEs) at a site. The communication system also includes a baseband controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of radio points. The baseband controller is configured to reallocate a second UE's channel resource in a first UE's DRX subcycle, for RPs in a first UE's combining zone vector (CZV), from a second UE to a first UE, wherein the first UE's CZV matches the second UE's CZV.

  • Patent number: 11540170
Abstract: A system for load-testing a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is provided. The system includes at least one radio point (RP), each being configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with at least one user equipment (UE). The system also includes a baseband controller communicatively coupled to the at least one RP via a front-haul ETHERNET network. The front-haul ETHERNET network includes at least one switch; and a testing device that is time-synchronized to the baseband controller and the at least one RP. The testing device is configured to receive at least one packet from each of the at least one RP. The testing device is also configured to replicate each of at least some of the received packets to produce a respective replicated packet. The testing device is also configured to transmit at least one replicated packet to the baseband controller.

  • Patent number: 11523409
Abstract: A communication system for performing non-DRX-aware channel resource allocation is described. The communication system includes a plurality of radio points (RPs), each configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with a plurality of user equipment (UEs) at a site. The communication system also includes a baseband controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of radio points. The baseband controller is configured to determine, for each RP communicating with a UE, available channel resources in each of a plurality of subframes. The baseband controller is also configured to determine a least-loaded subframe that has the most available channel resources. The baseband controller is also configured to assign an available channel resource in the least-loaded subframe to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11483848
Abstract: One embodiment is directed to off-loading at least some of the baseband processing for signals received at or transmitted by at least one overloaded radio point to at least one other radio point so that the off-loaded baseband processing is performed by the at least one other radio point. The radio points are a part of a centralized or cloud radio access network (C-RAN) or similar system.

  • Publication number: 20210243839
Abstract: A distributed radio access network (RAN) includes a plurality of remote units (RUs), each being configured to exchange RF signals with at least one UE. The distributed RAN also includes a central unit communicatively coupled to the plurality of RUs via a fronthaul and/or midhaul network comprising one or more ethernet switches. The distributed RAN also includes at least one processor configured to receive diagnostic information relating at least to processing performed for at least two layers of a network and/or air interface implemented by the distributed RAN; identify a system performance problem based on the diagnostic information; search for a cause of the system performance problem using at least a portion of the diagnostic information; and when the cause of the system performance problem is identified using the at least a portion of the diagnostic information, determine at least one action to correct, limit, or circumvent the system performance problem.
