  • Publication number: 20040009574
Abstract: This invention relates generally to Group B streptococci (GBS) Streptococcus agalactiae detection. More specifically, the present invention provides for novel probes for a specific and sensitive diagnostic test of GBS. These GBS-specific probes hybridize with the capsular polysaccharide synthesis (cps) gene. Arrays comprising the probes immobilized on a support for hybridization analysis and methods for GBS detection using the probes are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20030233283
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for connecting wish lists to users, thus making wish lists accessible to such user attributes as buddy lists, or the equivalent. The invention attaches a wish list to an instant messaging name and therefore makes it available to all persons on the user's buddy list. In a further embodiment of the invention, the wish list is attached to an account, such as a wallet. As a result, various conveniences are provided. For example, a member of the user's buddy list can give a gift to the user from the wish list; a group can contribute incrementally to the giving of a gift to the user; an individual can add incremental amounts to his or her wish list to pay for an item on time (as a type of layaway); and relatives and friends can give gifts that they know will be appreciated because the gifts are on the user's wish list.

  • Patent number: 6563213
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved heat sink retention assembly, such that the heat sink is physically supported by a base rather than by an integrated circuit. Traditional heat sinks have an alignment feature that physically aligns and supports the heat sink by contact of the feature with an integrated circuit, and that transfers force applied to the heat sink to the integrated circuit. This transferred force may be seen as shear stress at the pins of integrated circuits such as pin-grid arrays, and may damage the integrity of the integrated circuit or its connection to an external circuit. The present invention provides alignment and support features remote from contact with the integrated circuit, and therefore provides support for the heat sink in a manner that does not place substantial stress on the integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 6374100
Abstract: A mobile station (102) contains a local personality database (110) in a memory (306) of the mobile station. The local personality database contains information records (400), at least one of which has a variable personality parameter, such as a directory number (404). The directory number may change with either the time of day, geographic location, or both. At the appropriate time, the mobile station transmits a request to a central office (106) to receive an update of the directory number. The central office searches a parameter database (112) to find the most recent directory number, and returns it to the mobile station, which stores it for use at a later time. The system can also update scan and channel lists in the same manner.
